Write a card, something nice about the relationship. Give them to him at a picnic you've organised with your homemade sandwich, cake and drinks. Dress pretty for the occasion. The memories of the day will last longer then any gift you give him.

my girlfriend always makes things for me. so i would so something along the lines of that. firstly though, think of the connection you have with this person, or an experience you had together. for example me and my girflriend went on a holiday together. for my bday she gave me a phot aalbum with photos that was like a diary of our holiday. hope this helped, goodluck
