I spent a day with Margot Adler at a retreat, and I have an autographed copy of "Drawing Down the Moon".

What object holds deep religious or spiritual meaning for you? Who gave it to you and why do you treasure it?

*Tangible* items, please! I asked for "objects", not concepts.

Well there is a kid in my high school that I always give a hard time to, and one day, and yes i know this was evil, I took this key thing that had a cross on it with the ingraving "Christ is the Key" Well I eventually gave it back, because I had no idea why i took it in the first place, and it was really important to me, but then he told me to keep it, and that it would probably help me. He was not being a smartalic, and I feel so bad now that I bullied him. So, that cross is definately my most prized religous possession

WOW! Lucky you!

Everything I have holds a profound spiritual meaning for me. Literally every object on my altar carries with it a special meaning, consequently, I would have great difficulty deciding on just one object. But, if push came to shove - like a situation where my house was burning down and I only had the time to take one thing with me - I guess it would have to be my Athame.

I dont have a religion. All gods are imaginary.

The closest I could come to answering your question would be a carved wooden catfish I got from some natives in the Amazon. I dont believe in "spirits", so it has no spiritual value in a literal sense. But I respect their native culture that lives in harmony with nature, as opposed to American culture which is best symbolized by a plastic fork from McDonalds laying in a land fill.

I'd have to say its a toss up between my copy of Walt Wangerin's "This Earthly Pilgrimage" (especially, "little lamb who made thee' and no, its not the William Blake poem) or my copy of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's "The Cost of Discipleship"

My relationship with Jesus Christ. Self explanatory.

Second I would say,,,The rock given to me by a little orphaned boy in Brazil who I had the privilege of leading to Christ. This was his most prized possession before we came.

My favorite item is a Rosary. The beads are made out of real rose petals, and it was blessed by Pope John Paul II. It was given to me by my Great-Aunt who I had met about a day before she gave it to me.

A djembe (african style drum) given to me by a friend. It's become a good companion and I've always been drawn to drumming. I've learned much from the drum and my friend. such as that drums hold a spirit as do us all. It's a very magickal thing! BB Sdw

I have a silver plated (outside) cooper (inside) chalice that I paid $10 for at a thrift store. It was a fantastic find, and I only use it on very special occasions. It represents my water nature.
