Not sure where you live, but have you checked out 84Lumber's home plans...the prices seem a little more reasonable, and from what I read on Menard's website, the 84 lumber packages seem to offer you more for less cost. There are only 9 of the lower 48 states that do not have 84Lumber stores....good luck.

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT MENARDS, BUT JIM WALTERS IS THE CHEAPO HOUSE WHERE I AM FROM. What they don't tell you is the added cost of plumbing, excavation, foundation. Everthing they provide is the minimum. Take a similar house plan to a lumber yard and have them figure the framing cost. It will be an eye opener for you.
