Do people have a religious spirit when they say God told them or that God put it in their heart?

It all depends upon what you mean by a "religious spirit". To some people a "religious spirit" is a self righteous, legalistic and intolerant spirit that comes from the Devil and masquerades as the Holy Spirit.

But it sounds like you mean if a person receives a communication from God about how to live their life. If that's the case then if the directions glorify God and not their flesh or their ego then it is probably from the Holy Spirit.

Isn't each situation different? In some cases people are just repeating what they heard. In some cases the terminology says something about the person's personality.

Here are some factors to consider when someone claims to have a message from God:

1) Does the message line up/agree with the bible?
2) Does it make sense to mature believers?
3) Does it go along with circumstances?

I don't believe so unless they were constantly coming up with the same thing or using it to manipulate others.

God tells me plenty of things, that is Spiritual.

Religious is when there is a method and it must be done the same way. (it is about rituals, etc)

God speaks to me when I sulk, when I am happy, when I think about him. That's not religious.

Personally 9 times out of 10 I think it's a cop out or a justification manufactured within ourselves. The other 1 time.....who knows?

Sometimes. Sometimes they are having a religious experience. Sometimes they just don't want to take responsibility for the action themselves.
