I am a new junior youth assitant at our church. our junior youth class needs help. they are adolescents and mainly boys, i need to keep them interested and i need to get them on fire for God. I need help with activities or helpful websites. Also, the kids need to build trust and bonds/friendships with eachother. They are not very nice to eachother and we are there to serve the Lord, we need to be a unified youth group with a passion for Christ and love for eachother before we can effectivly serve. I want to have some kind of activities to help with this issue. there was something we played when i was a freshman in highschool at a retreat that had to do with a circle of people-passing a ball of yarn-and talking ( i dont remember exactly what it was..i just remeber it being emotional) anything will help. THANK YOU in advance and GOd Bless

one thing i learned when we took over the junior boys class was the even junior boys need a hug.
in the game you described we passed a potato because that was handy, it could be a ball, once it was called gossip and we started a phrase and each one repeated it, with the last one telling what the phrase was, and seeing how accurate it was from the original.
another one was each one completed the phrase "what I like about you" to the one next to him.

I remember a game that was called "Blind Trust". You make an obstacle coarse about 3 feet wide. You can make it as long or as short as you want, but ours was about 25 yards long with turns and curves. You section it off in 3 foot squares. There is nothing sticking up it's all a flat surface, but you make it so some of the squares have to be jumped over sometimes one square sometimes two. Also you make some of the squares narrow, like they are walking a plank over an 100 foot drop. (dramatize it as much as you want). I hope you get the idea. Now...The one doing the coarse is blindfolded while one of the other kids guides him/her through it by voice command only.
We had a blast with this. Divide up into 2 person teams. Score by completion of coarse the fastest.
I hope this is what you were looking for. Good luck and God Bless.

I would start off by doing some activities that the kids already like to do. Ask them what kinds of things they would like to do at youth group. Maybe they want to play video games, or watch a favorite movie... once they feel comfortable about what they're doing, they'll be more likely to open up more and share what's on their hearts. Also, doing some kind of service project to help someone else might give them a real sense of unity and accomplishment. Once they feel like they're working together, and sharing good times, they will probably form better relationships. Then, you'll be able to have deeper conversations about spiritual things. Hope this helps. I'll be praying for you.

Teach em about God's love

I am a youth leader and I have 13-18 year olds attend.
We play a game called the bin game,

Put a bin in the centre of the room, the aim is to not hit the bin, or let go of the person next to you if two people break they are out.

It is a game of elimination but the others can cheer along.

Anyone with any injuries should not play.

well try mission trips in the summer such as going down to mississippi to clean up from hurricanes (my youth group loves loves loves traveling), try winterfest this febuary (its down in gatlinburg, TN and youth groups from all over america go including ours so you can find out info at www.winterfest.org). try things to get you all closer such as having car washes like one a month to raise money for the orphans or your own youth group, contact other churches around your area for an area-wide-praise service where you can all meet at a chruch and sing with a devo and snacks thats always really fun, and just pray that you can be a really fun youth minister to make the kinds wanna keep coming back. oh yeah try lock-ins on the weekends with fun games and stuff. you can also check out our youth group websight cuz there mite be ideas on there its www.otownyouth.com. hope ive helped. ♥
