You said you have been there 10 years, but moved to a 2-bedroom apartment during the summer. You further said the people above you "just got here this past weekend."
Well, when you moved, did you not have to take time to settle in at the new 2-bedroom? You may not have had boxes to unload, especially if you stayed in the same unit. But I am sure you had furniture to rearrange, pictures to put up, dishes to put away in the cabinets, linen to put up, etc., etc.
These people above you are doing the same thing. Chances are they work during the day and only have the nighttime to unpack, unload, arrange furniture, unpack boxes, hang pictures, put up linen, etc., etc. (Do you hear hammering yet? That is generally the last things done when moving into a new place.)
Give them a few weeks to settle in. I am sure they will be happy to have completed the move, so they can get some rest.
Here's a thought: Why don't you offer to help them unpack everything? That way, you'll get to know them, the job will be completed sooner, and they will realize they are living above you, which will probably make them considerate in the future.

Maybe they are still unpacking and the only time they have to do it is at night time. It may calm down after a while if not, ask if you can move to an upper level apartment or just get over it. It's an apartment, what do you expect??

Maybe the shoving around of furniture will stop when the people are fully moved in.
Have you talked to the renters above you? Take a plate of cookies when you go to their apartment- that'll be a surprise. If you ask them to be quieter, maybe they will be.
Wait to tell the manager until after you have talked to them and had no success in changing their behaviour.
Maybe they are shift workers? Understanding their point of view may make it easier to live with them.
Hope you can get good results. No fun making an enemy. You do not want to have to move yourself!!

Hang on....you had a good spot and you moved, now you are complaining. The whole complex is not for your benefit. Move back to your other apartment, the quiet one. Or tell the neighbours that the sound travels. Do not expect them to tip toe for you - fair go.

I believe that when you talk to your land lord or manager that you should be blunt and make sure your point gets across especially if it is affecting you physically (fatiuge and what not). IF you don't then your manager might think it's not that big of a deal. also see if anyone else has the same problem and if so both or all of you should talk to the manager. If that does not work talk to the people them selves they might have a reason that you can understand.

when they stop the noise, you start the noise. buy a high powered chainsaw and start it an hour or so after ur neighbours noise stops. put super glue right around the edge of thier front door and then thier lock. maybe also contact adheisive right out front of thier front door.
buy a few old hick country music cds and crank it up when u go out.
many solutions for revenge. . . . buy a few bags of pig manure and dump it on thier door mat.
put thier car on bricks, deflate and slash tyres, fill with cement. wait a few hours and remove bricks. then watch out ur window the next morning.
ring the police and tell them they've been taking a large amount of nitrate based fertilizer into thier apartment. . . . use ur imagination. amuse yourself

Just tell it as it is, and the manager may do something about it.
Next time it happens again at night, just call the police and tell them that you hear loud dragging noises coming from upstairs, and you are worried that somebody may be hurt or worse.....:-)

explain to her in a nice gentle voice that you live under her and that you need to be able to rest at night to be able to function the next day.by the way there are noise laws in every state;in ny its ok to play music or make noise from 8am to 10pm and time after that is disturbing the peace.if she doesn't take your feeling into consideration after that then report her to the office.

My goodness, honey. They just moved in. Give them a couple of more days to get settled and I am sure that it will quiet down. Remember, if you are a good neighbor there is more of a chance that you will have good neighbors.
