No way they just provide the ride to jail. They figure that you got yourself there so you can get yourself back just as easy. The open the front door and you gotta figure the rest out yourself.

I can only speak for California and if you are sent to do your time in a state prison that is south from where you were sentenced at or vice versa sentenced in the south and sent north they will not take you back . What they do is they give you 200 dlls depending on how much time you did so that you can get back home and they take you to the bus station but that is about it. If you only do a little bit of time they will give you 100. I would think that most of states in the US do it the same way but I am not sure.

Not unless you have a warrant in a northern California.
They have no problem picking you up at your front door,and giving you free rides all over the state,but when your time is done,they don't care how you get back home.
