My 9 year old daughter went to Yahoo image search for "kitten" pictures and got a picture of a kitten with a sign below it " every time you masturbate, God kills a kitten". How do I stop her from reading and seeing inappropriate material? Since I've went to the new Yahoo brower, I don't know how or where the "safe " button is.
Can you help me figure out how to regulate what my kids see on the internet?

I was going to suggest that you always be in same room as child when she is on-line, that way you can monitor where she is going much better. Do know of Nanny Watch and other filters that parents use also, but once kids get a little older they usually have how to get around them figured out. It's sad that little ones have to be exposed to such things when they are truly only looking up things that interest them then get on some porn page that just because it has the word directs them there. These machines aren't that great afterall.

first, yes go to Internet setting under the tools menu in your browser, but that will not work for long.

secondly, get on there with her,
if you set her in front of her and leave her there, no amount of security protocol will be effective, she'll figure it out a lot faster than you.

i recommend using the Internet with her.
remember like your pop used to sit around the radio when they were kids, make it a family tool, let her learn how to use it properly by watching you use it

Amazingly, I just heard of this program today being sponsored by the Canadian government. Check out the following Web site:
www.cyberwise.ca. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I think it's designed especially to block kids from inappropriate sites, and from being harrassed by pervents online. Hope it helps! :-)

Try using a child Internet blocker. If you need to know where to get one go to this link http://bsafehome.com/?101551. Yahoo alone is not enough. With Child Internet Blocker (which could be found in stores and websites) it blocks images and websites not appropriate for children.

Good question I would like to know too
I do know that Google has parental settings in "preferences" on the home page and I use it for my child to surf the web.
