Super simple breadcrumbs for breading meat or veggies-take a piece of bread and toast it in the toaster. Let it cool and then chop it up with a mini chopper or mallet. Keep doing this until you get your desired amount. You can add some italian seasonings(1 tsp) to add some extra flavor.

The blender or food processor is a good tool for making bread crumbs - fresh bread for soft crumbs, toast for dry crumbs.
Each time you finish a loaf of bread have a designated container that you'll shake the crumbs into from the empty bag.

Buy a french loaf, and let it go stale - takes about four days (depending on how hot it is where you are).

Then, once it's stale and crunchy - grate the living bejeebus out of it. voila - breadcrumbs.

the best way for me and for you to save is to get maybe bread that has just been sitting out for about 3 days even if it is in the fridge....
cut them up into the sizes you want and bake them in oven at not to high temp but only for a short time...this will amke them crunchy....then add some seasoning after taking them out

let your bread get stale by leaving it out or baking it at a very low temp in your oven for a hour or so, then crumble up fine for powdery crumbs or less fine for dressing or what have you.
