Yeah, that's pretty much true. If the kids are at a young age, maybe at about six or younger, than they can't really control themselves. But once they reach about seven, eight, the parents should have disciplined them enough.

I think that what you say is partially true - the upbringing kids get definitely contributes to who are they and how they turn out. However, at some point in their lives, kids need to decide for themselves how they want to act and how they want to be perceived. A 4 year old is much different from a 14 year old.

once children reach a certain age it is appropriate for them to begin taking responsibility for their actions. Very young children act as they see, as they do not understand right and wrong yet. An 18 year old who rapes a woman can not blame his mother, he has reached a point in his life where he can reasonably understand the concept of right and wrong. I believe that most 16 year olds can understand that concept, there are always exceptions of course, but we cannot always blame the parents for a childs behavior when that child can understand right and wrong.

They care about the children very much.
But the horrifying, cruel and awful fact you discover when you are adult (eeee!) is that you MUST behave correctly to survive. Much of the fun, spontenaity, happiness, and worst of all, raw HONESTY you have as a teenager must be surpressed and hidden when you are an adult, in just about every situation you are in. You realize quickly in ADULT situations you must go along to get along, you must behave politely, and you must keep your opinions to yourself. Unfortunately, unless you are immensely wealthly and surrounded by servants, every word, gesture and action of your adult life had better conform to the right rules at the right time in the right place, or there will be trouble.
Worrying/criticizing young people over their behavior is just reality---the reality of adult life is RULES.

I don't think the parents are entirely to blame for how there kids turned out. My mom was a drug addict and my dad was an alcoholic. And I think I turned out just fine. But I understand what your saying, I don't think parents should air their kid's dirty laundry. Embarassing your child should never be their punishment.

Then start behaving and listening to your parents. Show some respect and you'll get it in return. Interesting to see how your kids feel about you some day.

well, that is not true i think my kids are great. i compliment them all the time. when they are around and when they are not around. i can see however why your parents have nothing good to say about you. you have a real bad attitude and obviously decided you are not responsible for anything you do. good luck in the real world.
