Today my 8 y/o daughter was watching the Disney Channel at 2:30 p.m. The show was The Proud Family. It is a cartoon. She does not usually watch this program, but it was what was on at the time.

I saw and heard this personally. On the program, 3 girls were having a conflict with another girl at school. One of the girls said "She's a bi-atch" (pronounced bee-atch) which is the teen slang version of b/tch.

The Disney Channel said bi-atch to our precious children at 2:30 in the afternoon!

I didn't see it - but it is no surprise to me. TV has evolved so much over the last 30 years it's incredible. You're absolutely right, that is NOT appropriate. I wish there were something we could do - unfortunately there are so many diverse opinions out there, and children who use that type of language normally, without any direction to do otherwise from their parents :( What a sad world we live in.

Although the show "The Proud Family" is aired on both Disney channel and it's sister station, ToonDisney, this was recently found in an article found on LaughingPlace.com:
"The Proud Family" is a production of Jambalaya Studios and Hyperion Studio in association with Disney Channel.
These same studios also create the show "Stanley" for the early morning Learning Disney showcase aired to pre-schoolers. Unfortunately, language content is not directly controled by Disney, but by the production companies. True, if Walt Disney were alive today, he would be ashamed at what has happened with the Disney name in entertainment, however, as has been stated more times than one would care to admit, "he isn't here anymore!!". One can only hope that language is where it stops--hopefully!!

OMG....that is horrible. I have a daughter, she will be 7 Saturday and she loves the Disney Channel, lucky for me she was at school and didn't see that. I mean the "Disney Channel". What is the world coming to? I know everything is about adults these days. All of the "hang outs" I used to go to as a child are now bar-rooms.
Anyways, I am glad she was at school and not home sick. When she is sick, she lays on the sofa and watches T.V. all day.

Wow that's pretty wild. You'd think Disney would be super strict about things like this! It's bad enough children today have to hear this garbage in school, at the mall, etc., now they have to hear it in their cartoons? They just don't make shows like they used to anymore! I say, get rid of the Disney Channel!

Are you serious?!?! I can't imagine...however it's better than what I heard/saw on noggin a while back in the middle of the day. On this show I saw, these kids were in a sex ed class and putting condoms on bananas. Then later 2 of the kids were boyfriend/girlfriend and the girl was home alone, on the phone with the boy, asking him to come over. This was on in my 9y/o neice's room, luckily she wasn't in there watching it. I turned it and told her mom and she nearly had a heartattack. It was way out of line!! What is this world coming to?!?!

As parents we need to let these people know it's not acceptable! Everyone who agrees that this is wrong should take a moment to call or email Disney to complain.

We need to stand up and let our voice be heard and protect our children. Someone needs to draw the line since these companies don't seem to know better!

Wow I am shocked. I wouldn't be as much if it was cartoon network or Nick. But Disney usually is super sensitive.

I am sure the complaints have been pouring in to them.

*GASP*
Are you serious?
What happened in the episode? Maybe I could look up a transcript of dialog for the shows. Are you positive they said this?

I love Disney but... what's wrong with this world?!

I also happened to catch the same thing today. My 4yr old turned on the TV in my 10yr olds bedroom and I couldn't believe it. I wouldn't have wanted my 10y/o hearing it either.

What has happened to the DISNEY we new growing up?

I have seen the one that you had mentioned and I don't think it is right either, small children are watching so they need to choose their words carefully. My children never watch the show they don't like it and neither do I.
