Tough guy ~
In my opinion, this would be a great match up, but I think that you might be surprised by my outcome. As great as Sanchez was, I think Willie "O' The Wisp" would move around the ring so much that Sanchez wouldn't be able to catch him with anything solid. There have been rumors over the years that Willie once won a round in a fight with Jackie Graves on July 25th 1945 by not throwing one punch that he moved around the ring with such grace and elegance that the judges and referee were in awe over him. The truth of the matter is Pep didn't throw one punch in anger as he predicted before the fight and won the round by feints and light punching.
The one thing that Sanchez could do is punch with accuracy, he was never one to go out there and just wing punches with the hopes of catching a opponent with the hopes of knocking him out. Stone faced and stern fashion he would dismantle his foe's with his devestating left hook to the body and his percise right hand. I had the privlage of meeting Sanchez and he was truly a legend eraly in his career.
Willie would out box Salvador over 15 rounds. There would be moments where the crowd would get on their feet thinking that Salvador would be close to knocking out Willie, but Willie would get on his bike a ride away. I never saw Willie fight live, but I have watched hours of video on him and the man could move. I did see Salavador fight and there is a reason why he's a legend, but I honestly believe that Pep was just a bit too much for him. Salavador never in his whole career never fought I guy that moved the way Willie did and in Willies career he fought plenty of fighters that fought the way Sanchez did, not as good, but the same style.

Sanchez - W 44 (KO's) TF 46 - W pct 96% - KO pct 70% - wins over Lopez[2], R. Castillo,Gomez, Nelson and LaPorte KO'ed by none - #88 ranked puncher - #24 ranked fighter
Pep - W 230 (KO's 66) TF 242 - W pct 95% - KO pct 27% - wins over Saddler, C. Wright[4], De Marco and Famechon - KO'ed by "Kid" Basey, Saddler{2} and 2 other unknown fighters - #6 ranked fighter
A few answers stated that if Saddler could beat Pep then Sanchez could. Saddler got into Pep's head with his dirty tactics and Pep fought back dirt for dirt. I see the will o' wisp winning in 15 rd unanimous decision.

Toughguy - What's up Bro! If Saddler could beat Pep 3 out of the 4 times they fought, and one of those times putting Pep to sleep, then Sanchez could beat Pep. Salvador by unanimous decision.

Pep. His defensive skills were enough to win a close decison.
Pep lost to Saddler past his prime and even then he did manage one win in the series. Saddler may have been better than Sanchez anyway it was close between Sanchez and Saddler

pep was art in motion, no question. he was a more skilled boxer, and had better movement than anyone sanchez fought. that being said, sanchez was exactly the kind of fighter to beat him. he was a more complete fighter than saddler, & showed he could be a destroyer, too(gomez). he threw bushels of punches & had incredible stamina. he was just starting to hit his stride. pep might outslick him once, but i believe sanchez ko's him twice out of 3 matches
