what is the best tattoo needle to use for filling in solid color?

Your typical outlining needle is a 3 or 5 grouped tightly. For filling in solid, a 7 or 9 magnum or 14 round, though mags fill in more efficiently. If you're filling in huge solid sections, then you may go as big as a 15 mag, but you need to either turn the power way up so you can get all the needles to penetrate the skin, or get a heftier (12 or 14 wrap) head to be able to handle it.

That really depends on the amount of space being filled in. I wouldn't go below a size 6 to fill in, some artists use a round as well as a flat 6. If it's a large area (large tribles) to fill in I would go with a 14 round.

You can use size 1 up to 4. but a 4 is the best.

I would think a 3 or four. The more needles, the more it fills in at one time.
