1) Eat a better diet. Include more fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and less carbs, but you still need them, so don't cut them out completely. Stay away from sugar as much as possible, and reduce your fat intake. Reduce calories to about 800 per day.

2) Cardio for about an hour a day for 5-6 days, as well as weight training for atleast half an hour 3-4 days a week. Weight training is a must! Without it, you will lose lean body mass and that's not fat. Also switch your routine, do a bike one day and elliptical the next. But make sure you weight train, b/c by building muscle mass, you will increase your metabolism dramatically and lose much more fat than just running, etc. Make sure to give your body at least one days rest for it to recuperate.

Also to make sure you are not losing lean muscle mass, you should eat lean proteins such as egg whites, broiled white chicken, cottage cheese, etc. Anything with protein, but less fat is great for your body. You can still eat the carbs but limit your intake. Make sure they are whole grain, because you will get more fiber which is key to a healthy diet.

Good luck :)

Losing that much weight in such a short amount of time is very unhealthy. Studies show that when people lose that kind of weight that quickly they will gain it back. A healthier goal is around 2 pounds per week. That would get you halfway to your goal.

For cardio, I highly recommend running (try the couch to 5k plan on coolrunning.com). Eat between 1200-1500 calories per day. Do weight training every other day to increase metabolism so you burn more calories at rest. Drink a lot of water, at least 8 cups (64 oz) per day (more if you are very overweight and/or exercise a lot). Cut down on refined carbs (sugar, white flour, etc) but make sure you eat plenty of fiber from fruits/veggies/whole grains. Also eating plenty of protein will help you stay fuller longer. And get plenty of rest.

My sister lost loads of weight by cutting her calories down to 1000 per day.Loads of water and 100 sit ups at night.I don't know if the calorie intake is higher for men.If you also eat mostly carbs one day such as pasta beans rice and then mostly proteins the next meat beef chicken FISH you should have an even bigger weight loss(loads of veg on each day). There is also the heart foundation diet that people do before going in for an operation. This diet has a soup that you make that you can eat as much of as you like over the period of a week. You also get to eat a banana one day a baked potato another day and grapefruit.I have never done this diet but it does work wonders.Only thing is the weight goes back on really fast if you loose it fast!Good luck loux

30 pounds is unrealistic (and unhealthy) in that time frame. It's all about calorie count.
