I prefer merlot, and I don't like to pay more than 20 bucks a bottle,
What brand is the best?
I'll drink anything with alcohol in it, but I'm just curious what gets recommended.

Columbia Crest has some outstanding Merlots that are highly rated and cheap (usually under $12).

Columbia Crest 2003 Grand Estates Merlot - $11

Highly recommend and for the money you can't go wrong.

i lately got here across an magnificent wine at dealer Joe's (not 2-greenback Chuck). Chalk Creek has its grapes sourced from the imperative coast (Paso Robles) and is then bottled in Northern CA. The Cabernet is staggering... that's a 2002 at my keep in the present day (that is a darn reliable 3 hundred and sixty 5 days for imperative Coast Cabs). I have not tried the Merlot when you consider that I usually bypass for a meatier wine with lots of tannins. although, i have heard reliable issues about it to boot. only offered an entire case and plan on going back for extra earlier it runs out.... supply it a bypass, you isn't dissatisfied! Oh.... through how.... it is really 5 funds!!!! As for some "less than $20" Merlots that i love (that are extremely handy) .... Bogle, Edna Valley, Charles Krug, Copolla, & St. Francis. in case you want to step it up a touch notch, Kenwood and Duckhorn!

Great question, I luv Merlot too, but here's a VERY inexpensive wine that taste good-Carlo Rossi,

Other favorite wines:
Montinore Vineyards-Pinot Noir-1997-Willamette Valley-Oregon
Erath-Pinot Noir- Oregon
anything from Washington, like Chateau Michelle.

I agree, the Columbia Crest reds have come a long way and are real bargains.

I prefer cab rather than merlot, so I also like a good Monticello Rioja. We've been happy with Beringer and Benzinger, too.

I like the Black Rabbit label, it's cheap and it tastes as good as an expensive wine.
