From what you said, I think that the dress sounds too nice/pretty/fancy for french braids. The night before the dance wash your hair with a curling shampoo and conditioner and put your hair in about 6 braids around your head. When you wake up, take out the braids and add some curling or anti-frizz product, like the frezees or however you spell it. Scrunch your curls a little with your hands, and finger style your hair. Add a little bit of hairspray, but not too much, and you are ready to go. Have fun at your dance, and your dress sounds pretty.

french braids will b a good idea even just wearing ur hair up, but u should get bangs long enough 2 go behind ur ear and curve them 2 the right.

Ok the answer to your question is simple, put your hair up high in a pony tail take your hair from the bottom and twist it around your pony tail, then tuck it into your pony, put some moouse and your all good! ~ add some cute stuff to add cuteness even more ~

that would work.
this is what I use to do:
flip my hair (bend over) gather it all together in a pony tail
stand up & twist the hair
keeping it twisted bring it to the top/back of your head
it will be loose & puffy around the top of your head
clip it with a barrett & pull out a few wisps of hair by your face

I hope you can understand all that its easier to see it done but it looks nice

if you want french braids, do one, in the middle, back of your head, and sweep it over your shoulder. like your avatar is doing. do the curly thing like your avatar, and maybe a pouf? i don't know what you look like, so the pouf may be too much for you, you also don't want your hair to take away from your face. and don't wear a tiara, it looks cheesy.

I think that you should put your hair half up and curl all your hair with a curling iron
