I never forget to stretch, and I've been playing for a few weeks now so I should be used to it by now. I am a very active person. So why do I keep getting so sore?

Oh when I say I've been playing for a few weeks, I mean this season. I've been playing for years. It just seems like I've never been this sore before...

If you don't work those muscle groups on a regular basis you get what is called lactic build up in the muscle. After a while your body will learn how to do with it. To help with the discomfort, take a cool bath. Like in the winter, cold pulls blood away from the surface of your skin and muscles, the lactic acid will go with it (so to speak). I hope that is the soreness you speak of. If its a "Pain" you might want to see your Doctor

Ice the sore muscles right after a workout. Stretch before AND after you play. If you're still sore a few days later try heat like a hot bath/shower or sauna. I also recommend yoga...it always seems to help my sore muscles. Oh, eating a banana is supposed to help...I don't know if it's the potassium or what. And drink lots of water, that helps too. For immediate relief, try advil/motrin.

Maybe you are out of shape! I know that is what happens to me! But to keep from getting sore you warm up, cool down then when you get home take a warm shower and stretch out again before you go to bed. Normally that will help out a lot!!

You are using different muscles and so you keep exercising them. My daughter has been playing for 7 years and she still gets sore sometimes.

Do more conditioning. Your body is used to being lazy. If you condition the pains will eventually go away.
