The average amount of time to wait is at least two weeks after relaxing your hair. I would like to suggest that after getting your highlights, please ask your stylist to do a deep condition on your hair because lightening your hair can have a drying effect. With the relaxer and applying any type of hair coloring chemicals on the hair can make your hair dry, so please keep it moisturized and conditioned to maintain the health of your hair and keep your color looking fierce. Good luck, Queen.

You should wait two weeks & one wash before you add highlights.
Be sure to use a deep conditioner afterwards.
I've done this with my hair & it didn't fall out, but the hair that is highlighted tends to be a bit frizzier than the rest.

I'm guessing you're black... If you not, sorry. But um, you're really supposed to wait like 8 weeks.. But if you know someone that can work with colored hair and relaxers than you can do it sooner. this girl bleached my hair and permed it in the same night and i was blessed my hair didn't fall out, but you know she had to know what she was doing, and i had highlights... now if you do it sooner, remember this, since your hair has been chemically treated already, the dye is gonna take faster, and you're gonna have to keep your hair really moisturized because dye makes it really dry.. so have a good conditioner on hand and keep a light moisturizer to keep onto your hair to prevent damage on it.

Double processing is just bad in general, but at least a month. Ma be dint worry about highlighting at all. I have been a stylist for Six years now, and if i were you i would be veeery careful.

i have been a cosmotologist for 7 years your good to go on highlighting! you need to wait 72 hours after any chemical procedure before you perform another procedure. but you should try to use a 20 volume bleach to minimize damage unless your hair is really dark like almost black then go ahead and use 40 volume but put a conditioning treatment on after the procedure and let it sit for about 20 min.
