Yes that’s what they did (ie Alexandria). That mob burned all the books they didn’t like including their authors if they could find them. Fortunately some books were buried and those intellectually dishonest swine never managed to get their filthy hands on ‘em.

The Library at Alexandra was burnt three times...
Once by Julius Caesar,
Once by Catholics
Once by Muslims.
Why blame the Catholics as sole agents of library burning?
Hitler, Stalim and many leaders banned books and it may be a crime to walk the streets of Saudi Arabia with an open bible.

Oh goodness, let's hope not! Have you ever read any Catholic books? The vast majority of them are long, drawn-out, and boring due to the huge amount of detail and attention to technical accuracy. On the flip side, they are absolutely fantastic for insomnia!

Until the invention of printing, the church was able to keep people out of the libraries.

no, actually. I don't know why so many feel the need to bash Christ's Church.
Catholicism is much different than you seem to think. Maybe you should do some research before you start attacking. It's just one thing that I value as a Catholic.
God Bless.

catholics are the very first christians, so christians did it, does that make you feel better, other christians would not have the bible had it not been for the catholic church, who as the early defenders of the faith safe guarded the word of god. even the church reformers realised this as disgruntled ex catholics. many hardships and wrong doings occured during the persecution of the early christians(catholic).

only a handful of people actually literally hate the roman catholic church. however, masses hate what they falsely perceive to be the roman catholic church.
sadly, i can tell by your question, your view of catholicism has been perverted and distorted.

Yeah, basically winners write history.
If the Turks won at the battle of Tours than we would have been Muslims.
