If this is for school I would hit the text. There are many answers and your teacher might be looking for a specific one. If it vague then I would say soldiers. They lay down their lifes everyday to keep us all free.
Here is a web site: http://www.sermonillustrator.org/minisermons/folder2/THE%20ULTIMATE%20SACRIFICE.htm
Good luck to you.

Try Mithra, the original model for the Jesus story. There are at least seven versions of the Christ on the crucifix model.
They are all heathen beliefs that are older than the Jesus story.
If you review mythology for the greater love hath no man stories you will find them from the Epic of Gilgamesh to the history of the Vietnam War and with new ones being cooked up now. The story of self sacrifice for the good of mankind has always been a favored topic of preachers, usually just before the passing of the collection plate.

Every soldier who went to Iraq laid his/her life on the line so that others could live and be free. It's a deep, deep satisfaction.
And hey, I feel that the people who take their time to give really helpful answers, or funny, straight from the heart answers, are giving bits of their life, their time, so that others might live happier. And I'm grateful.

Hundreds of our brave soldiers gave their lives for their buddies in battle. The highest medal for that bravery is the medal of honor.
Some came out alive...God bless them.
I don't know any of them personally but you can go to the memorial in Washington and see their names.
Also the Arlington cemetery too has some inscribe on their grave sights.
There is a movie star named Audy Murphy who put his life in danger and almost lost his for his buddies...he was awarded the Medal of Honor.

There is no other. Jesus died for all human kind and there isn't any other person in all of history who did that.
Don't worry sweetie I know what you mean. Those people are just trying to make you look stupid. Don't let it get you down though. All that matters is how Jesus feels about your question and I'm sure he is pleased by it. God Bless.

there are people call marines and soldiers who laid down their lives, but I suspect for the most part, it just happened to them. however, in some cases, military men have jumped on live granades to save their buddies and died that way. of course, you also have the 'bad guys' who've done the same for their god.

VARIOUS MARTYRS of the Christian faith.
Maximilian Kolbe in WWII.
Many Jewish Parents & Polish & other's who died to save their children during the Holocaust.
While it was not in the same pretext as Jesus -- HE was the only one who gave His life fully, freely for every human being then, now and to come.

My husband was killed when he threw our one year old daughter out of the way of a speeding car driven by a drunk driver.
"Father Hero" the headlines read.
Is there any parent here who wouldn't die to save the life of their child?
