And please, no "No, I'm going to heaven and you're all sinners," rap please.
Anyways, do you ever just sit up at night and think about it? Especially if you're not religious like me. It's kind of unthinkable, you don't know what will happen, if we just end or if there is an Afterlife kind of like Beetlejuice, with a waiting room. OR if there is eternal suffering (which in my opinion would be unfair and irrational for a mere 80 years on earth. Eternity is a bit hard to comprehend, no?)
Does this seriously mess with anyones head at times during the day? Or can you seek comfort in not knowing?

If you believe in a Christian afterlife feel free to state your opinion, I just didn't want to read another "You're all going to burn but me!" statement.

That is true, if you remember nothing of being born.

My mother has a very painful and terminal disease. She prays that she will die soon.

That is a big reason why I don't believe in god any longer. She has been a faithful follower her whole life, and her lord /god/protector lets her suffer.

I don't think that I will freak out when it's my time to go, and I KNOW that there are some people who are eager to go.

That's a healthy fear to have. No I don't fear death. I've been in a few formidable natural disasters where it seemed I would die. Yes there is an afterlife. I must say, though; you're question would put me in violation my beliefs given an edict of silence generally. The best thing you can do is to search these things out for yourself. Use a King James translations. There is also an online concordance called Strong's Exhaustive Concordance specifically keyed to that translation. Be patient, be thorough. This is probably the only most important thing you will do in your life. Do not trust people. Do not attend a church. These things will come to you if you truly are in the state you indicate. We are at the brink now of the end of all things. The only difference is a massive effort is on to make it appear not to be so. If you do this, I assure you you will not be sorry. I hope this helps.

I guess it would be nice to have some kind of an afterlife. Not in a form of heaven and hell as imagined by Christianity though. More like if you saw 'Sphere' movie. But my wishing it is not going make it so. I do not even think I wish it, I just think it might be cool.

The idea that I'm going to die doesn't freak me out nearly as much as the idea of wasting my life. I don't know if god exists. If he does, I'm not sure if he's sending me to heaven or hell. I know for a fact that when my life ends, I'll end up rotting in the ground until I become fertilizer. The only certainty I have in life is that one day it will end.

I have many talents. I also have a tremendous impact on those around me. I've decided to adopt the philosophy of leaving this earth a better place than when I got here. I stay awake at night trying to think of ways that I can make a positive difference in someone else's life. In the end, if I can turn tears into laughter, anger into reasoning, fear into understanding and have a positive influence on everyone I know, I'll be satisfied with my life no matter where my soul ends up in death.

I think about it from time to time, but I don't "freak out". I think everyone - may worry about dying from time to time, but I once heard someone say that "being afraid to die is simply a sign that you love life". I'm sorry that you're not a believer though, b/c it's the easiest way to have that assurance that you will KNOW where you will spend eternity.

I am a Christian, and I do believe in heaven and in hell. We are created with the ability to choose, and you can't blame anyone else for the choices you make, so if you've heard the truth before and you reject it and die without having repented and turning to Christ, you will spend eternity in hell for a choice you made, and you will have no excuse.
Salvation is a free gift, and you either accept it or reject it.

Honestly, as a Druid, one who has a high belief in the ways of nature, I see death as just the final natural act. It's a part of life, the final part. We get born, we live, we make due with what we have in life, and we die. Everything goes through this process. Animals, Insects, Plants, Birds, everything. Whether or not there is an afterlife or which one I will go to, isn't up to us now is it? That rests in the hands of our higher powers, whoever they may be. Whethere you are a believer in the Trinity, Gaia, a prophet, Hecate, the Norse Pantheon, or whatever your religious afiliation may lead you do. They control whether or not their will be an after life and whethere or not you will be there, or just put 6 feet into a dark hole and burried.

There's a LOT of stuff out there about people's personal near death experiences, u know where they're brought back to life after being dead a few minutes. There's also a lot of past life stories from people under hypnosis. The overall conclusion that can be gathered from these stories is that death is nothing to be afraid of. It's a release, a return to somewhere much nicer than here, where there is no pain and no separateness.

Look at the world around you. Death is as natural as breathing.

Jesus said "Straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to eternal life and few there be that find it."

Jesus is the only way to eternal life. Unless God the Father draws you through the son Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit then you cannot be born again.

Jesus said that you must be born again to enter the kingdom of Heaven. For spirit gives birth to spirit. You cannot begin to understand God until you have been born again. Read the gospel of John. Particularly John 3.

If you are born again then you have the assurance of salvation and the Holy Spirit lives within you teaching you unto all truth.

To be born again you must live a life of repentance and faith in Jesus to save you. You can do nothing to be born again. Only God can give you new life in your spirit. Everyone is born spiritually dead and cannot comprehend the spiritual world. To be a born again Christian is a supernatural work of God. There is no way that anyone can work their way to heaven. It is impossible. God says that no one seeks after God. So, again, only God can call you to seek after Him.

no to both questions. I am not religious either and i feel that when you die, your body (should, but doesn't because of embalming and stuff) is eaten by scavengers, then eventually becomes part o the soil, which feeds essential nutrients to the plants, which is then eaten by an animal, such as a deer / rabbit, which is then eaten by a bird of prey or a wolf or something, which dies and the same thing happens again. The circle of life perhaps. I don't believe in an afterlife, or a soul. Just your body and mind. if your body dies, so does your mind, so you won't be worrying anymore, if your mind dies, then you won't be caring what happens to your body.

You know what? at times I do realize that I am going to die but I don't think it freaks me out. My son died 2 yrs. ago, he was 22. I hated saying goodbye to him but since I am a Jesus freak, I know I'll be with him. I still have 2 other kids to finish raising, so, I'd hate to die now, but if I do, then I really do believe it's Gods will. I would not want my husband to die any time soon either, so, yea, I think about it but I think my perspective is a bit different since I do follow the Lord and His teachings. Even on my worst day, I still have a 'peace' inside me that I know is from God. It wasn't there before I knew him. I wish you this peace. :)
