(Gastroesophageal reflux disease)
Both my brother and mother have it and I think that I have symptoms such as difficulty swallowing and chest pains/slight heartburn after meals. I'm not sure if I have it and I don't want to assume that I do.

The symptoms you describe could be GERD however, they could be at least 100 other conditions as well. Your physician will be the best judge.

Are you, your mom and brother overweight? That can also cause the symptoms you are presenting.

See a doctor - do it soon.

Well, those are pretty much the symptoms. You should go to the doctor and get it checked out, it is easily treatable. Also avoid spicy/sugary foods and eating right before you go to bed until you know for sure. That should help. Good luck!

Just because your mother and brother have it doesn't mean you necessarily have it. Go to your doctor and get your symptoms checked out to be on the safe side.

The best thing that you can do is ask your doctor what he or she thinks. This is not a place that you would want someone to diagnose you.
