We have been very close and met in university. Both are single parents. He has 2 kids and they kids are very close to me. Now, I heard the mum of his went to India finding him a bride as a replacement of his late wife. Infact his mum knows about our relationship and knows how close we have been. She also knows that his kids are always with me and she allows her grandchildren to be with me and say nothing.Why is he not telling me the truth? Is it due to the fact that I am not from the same beliefs?

Many Indians tend to be very traditional. It might have more to do with your race than your beliefs. Where are you from?

Loveless marriages are the norm rather than the rarity in India. Having a husband or wife chosen for you is very common. Marring out of there race and religion is very disgraceful to the families and they are so firm on there beliefs. Theres more here than just beliefs, there also the race issue. I am assuming you are not Indian.

His mother wants to control her son with the old traditions. That makes it very hard for an outsider to enter into a proper relationship with him.
You need to convince him that things are different as he no longer lives in India and he should be master of his own destiny.
