It definitely depends on what you are making. Sometimes all purpose flour can make a dough gummy unlike whole wheat flour when the same quantity of water is used. Try it, it might work for your waffles just as all purpose flour works for pancakes. To add to my answer...In future if you are deep frying, whole wheat flour works better - what you make turns out crisper as against all purpose flour which turns out chewy. Happy cooking! :-)

You can use some whole wheat flour, but if you use all wheat, the muffins will be heavy and dense. I would use 3/4 all purpose flour and 1/4 whole wheat. That way, you won't have to adjust any of the other ingredients. If the recipe calls for 2 cups of flour, use 1 1/2 all purpose and 1/2 cup whole wheat. Wheat flour absorbs more liquid, so you may want to use large or jumbo eggs.

If I was making waffles, I would substitute white flour for wheat flour. White flour (or "all-purpose" flour) will give your batter more "lift" and your waffles will taste better.

Go for it!

Yes, but it will make it taste better. My mom uses wheat flour now and I could kill her for it -- I miss her old, delicious waffles!

Yes, you need to reduce the liquid because whole wheat will absorb more liquid
