Would you trust a description of America given to you by an Islamist extremist? Could you trust the judgement of anyone telling you about somewhere they didn't want to go?

The way I see it, heaven is going to be full of tedious dullards, hypocrites, "saved" mass murderers, televangelists, gospel singers, homophobes and generally interfering busybodies.

Hell, on the other hand, is going to be full of people who know how to enjoy themselves, live peacefully without interfering with others' happiness, know how to have a laugh, there will be good music, fast motorbikes, beer, like-minded members of the opposite sex and - let's face it - most of our friends. I understand that the Devil isn't in the business of doing God's work so I'm not persuaded he's going to punish me (no-one's ever said God would do it), rather that he would recognize me as doing his works in a very minor way and let me joni the party. Who wants to join me?

Is Hell a Just punishment for sin?is it Biblical? Not at all!!!!!!!
Have you ever seen someone tortured?Ihope not. Deliberate torture is sickening and abhorrent. What, though,of torture inflicted by God? Can you imagine such a thing?
Yet, this is exactly what is implied by the teaching of hellfire, an official doctrine in many religions.
Imagine, for a moment, the following horrific scene. A person is being roasted on a hot iron plate. In his agony he screams for mercy, but nobody listens, the torture goes on and on hour by hour, day by day---without any pause!
Whatever crime the victim may have commited, would not your heart go out to him? What of the one who ordered the torture? Could he be a loving person? In no way! Love is merciful and shows pity. A loving father may punish his children, but he would never torture them!
Never theless, many religions teach that God tortures sinners in eternal hellfire. This is claimed, is devine justice. If this is true, who created that terrible place of eternal torment? And who is responsible for the excruciating agonies inflicted there? The answer would seem obvious. If such a place really exists, then God would have to be creator of it, and he would be responsible for what happens there.
Can you accept that? The Bible says:" God is love."(1John4:8) Would a God of love inflict torture that even humans with any measure of decency find revolting? Surely not!
Still, many believe that the wicked will go to a fiery hell and be tormented forever. Is this teaching logical? The human lifespan is limited to 70 or 80 years. Even if some one perpetrated extreme wickedness for his whole lifetime, would everlasting torment be a just punishment? No it would be grossly unjust to torment a man forever for thelimited number of sins that he can commit in a lifetime.Who knows the truth about what hapens after we die?Only God can reveal this information, and he has done so in his written Word, the Bible, refered to above. Here is what the Bible says."As the [beast]dies, so the man dies; and they all have but one spirit....... All are going to one place. They have all come from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust(Ecclesiastes3:19,20)There is no mention here of a fiery hell. Humans return to dust----to nonexistance----when they die.
In order to be tormented an individual must be conscious. Are the dead conscious? No"The living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten."(Ecclesiastes9:5) It is impossible for the dead."conscious of nothing at all," to experience the agonies of hellfire.

I hate to bust your bubble but.........read on

A word used in the King James Version (as well as in the Catholic Douay Version and most older translations) to translate the Hebrew she’ohl′ and the Greek hai′des. In the King James Version the word “hell” is rendered from she’ohl′ 31 times and from hai′des 10 times. This version is not consistent, however, since she’ohl′ is also translated 31 times “grave” and 3 times “pit.” In the Douay Version she’ohl′ is rendered “hell” 64 times, “pit” once, and “death” once.

In 1885, with the publication of the complete English Revised Version, the original word she’ohl′ was in many places transliterated into the English text of the Hebrew Scriptures, though, in most occurrences, “grave” and “pit” were used, and “hell” is found some 14 times. This was a point on which the American committee disagreed with the British revisers, and so, when producing the American Standard Version (1901) they transliterated she’ohl′ in all 65 of its appearances. Both versions transliterated hai′des in the Christian Greek Scriptures in all ten of its occurrences, though the Greek word Ge′en·na (English, “Gehenna”) is rendered “hell” throughout, as is true of many other modern translations.

Concerning this use of “hell” to translate these original words from the Hebrew and Greek, Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words (1981, Vol. 2, p. 187) says: “HADES . . . It corresponds to ‘Sheol’ in the O.T. [Old Testament]. In the A.V. of the O.T. [Old Testament] and N.T. [New Testament], it has been unhappily rendered ‘Hell.’”

Collier’s Encyclopedia (1986, Vol. 12, p. 28) says concerning “Hell”: “First it stands for the Hebrew Sheol of the Old Testament and the Greek Hades of the Septuagint and New Testament. Since Sheol in Old Testament times referred simply to the abode of the dead and suggested no moral distinctions, the word ‘hell,’ as understood today, is not a happy translation.”

It is, in fact, because of the way that the word “hell” is understood today that it is such an unsatisfactory translation of these original Bible words. Webster’s Third New International Dictionary, unabridged, under “Hell” says: “fr[om] . . . helan to conceal.” The word “hell” thus originally conveyed no thought of heat or torment but simply of a ‘covered over or concealed place.’ In the old English dialect the expression “helling potatoes” meant, not to roast them, but simply to place the potatoes in the ground or in a cellar.

Neither one seems that stable on Y!A. between the two one in each of them, this type gets fantastically obnoxious & no longer a robust occasion of a easy exchange of concepts. the two one in each of them provide the impact of desirous to straighten all and sundry out with their very own evaluations. in accordance to the Christians, if the earth ended as we talk, God could collect up the Christians as co-rulers of heaven & the universe, mutually as all and sundry else is going off to hell. in accordance to the atheists, no person could flow everywhere. all and sundry could all flow into unaware nothingness. As for as we talk, properly, they say, you will extra effective come on your senses & choose for the place you belong, it extremely is, on which of those 2 sides. the two you're with us or against us, they seem to declare. Even the atheists look confident that anybody different than atheists is desirous to start up pressuring Congress to bypass some form of regulations that should impose a theory in God, a party of Christmas, or despite the fact that it is that they concern maximum. I asked a query as quickly as approximately their ideals. They could no longer merely say that they did no longer have any. they additionally proceeded to tell me those form of regulations that i replaced into certainly attempting to bypass & different issues that i replaced into supposedly doing to atheists. Me, the guy who called for an end to a Christmas tree & blinking lighting fixtures in our place of work? Me? Oh, precise. It replaced into completely rude, the failings that they assumed. do no longer dare to ask them a query except you appreciate being hammered. As for the Christians, they love no longer something extra effective than chatting with a Senior Citizen like me as though she's a youthful ignorant ingenue who merely desires to be straightened out via examining the Bible. it is fantastically rude, too. the biggest question I surely have right here, nevertheless, is why the atheists are even in this type. confident, surely anybody can take part in any type, yet they under no circumstances say why they're so fascinated interior the faith & Spirituality type. As for the Christians, in the event that they have no longer something it is open to communicate or interpretation, i do no longer see why they're right here the two. With that throughout the time of concepts, i do no longer spend lots time right here the two. seems form of pointless.
