Dear Seeker: Yes, you can find truth yourself. The thing I have always done is to study and read books from all major religions. Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Metaphysics, Spirituality. These all offer truths alike; and some different ways of looking at those same truths.
For myself, I believe in expanding the mind. Staying within traditional thought is comfortable and secure, but there are levels of spiritual learning and vistas of thought to walk through that require a more expanded, OPEN mind.
For myself (a non-denominational, spiritually oriented person) the depth and richness of spiritual thought has held me spellbound for many years.
Studying and asking questions within yourself is the start of the Journey. But, when you reach a point that you can hear the answers and KNOW it came not from your own Intellect - the steps of discipleship have begun. I chose the Master to lead me and Guide my thoughts. If we ask, He is there to teach us levels upon levels of spiritual thought. When I ask Jesus to teach me, He does! For myself, I rely upon Him to speak with me through Mind to Mind. He teaches me all He knows. . .which seems endless!
Being open and willing to expand your knowledge of truths is everything. "A mind that is stretched to a new idea will never return to its original shape." (Oliver Wendell Holmes)
You, Seeker, are rich indeed. Your 360 profile blurb tells me you do, indeed, know many truths.
The mavericks may sometimes be treated dis-respectfully, but what they KNOW, and are still learning, can make them Masters also. Whether they choose to teach or not.
I am glad to know you. This R&S category can use knowledge that includes, and goes beyond the traditional.
Best regards, Lana

The truth is in the Bible...but it can also serve as a guide, and as a heads up to what will be happening in the future.
I mean, things mentioned in there have already happened. The most easy to prove to a non believer would be the Chernobyl explosion in Russia. Compare Revelations 8 especially 8:11 to the story of the Chernobyl explosion...you can not deny that it was not foretold in the Bible.
So...the TRUTH is IN the Bible!!

It just so happens that I encountered Jesus, the Truth, the Life, and the Way not even in the close vicinity of a Bible. I'd barely even seen a Bible after growing up from a child. And all the encounter did was stir a voracious hunger and desire in me all of a sudden to know what the Bible said, to know what Jesus said. And even now, almost 13 years after that encounter, I still run to the Bible day in and day out where I breathe in the very essence and presence and life of God! The Bible doesn't just dictate how I live my life - it IS my very life!

books of religion are simply that, manuscripts composed by humans to relate the literal or symbolic importance of different events. Truth in itself is not limited to Christians, Muslims, or Jews, or any religious or agnostic group. The "truth" is not such a complex concept. It is simply to love your neighbor as yourself, and perform daily duties with a sense of moral obligation. This is how "heaven on earth" comes into play. By attempting to reduce one's own sin, and help others, a society moves into a more idealistic state where crime and evil becomes scarce, as people in poverty and wealth realize the "truth". In short, Christianity, like other religions is not radical as some paint it to be. It is followed by humans who want to help out other humans "to form a more perfect union" (constitution excerpt, FF were religious)

Yes, you can find all Truth in the Bible without outside books. Also, The Holy Spirit will teach the soul that hungers and thirst after righteousness.

Not only books...but your whole living environment will have an effect on how one thinks and what one believes.
Of course, you can go live all by yourself in a mountain cave and talk to yourself and the sun and the moon and the stars and get chased by mountain lions and sucked to the bone by sand flies; then before long, you will go raving mad and die looking wide eye at north star.

Yes, one can find Truth without the aid of spiritual books. God is not confined to books although His Word is just that.

A fool thinks he is wise. A wise man knows himself to be a fool. No one human contains all wisdom and knowledge within himself.
Once we realize how little we really know, then we can begin to open our minds and hearts to divine truth and the learning of other men.
