Composit allergies ? Hands (even when covered in either vinyl or latex gloves) become red, blotchy and very itchy. We know the reaction is either to the composite or to the bond. Anyone out there experienced the same thing or has info, it would be very appreciated. It is driving my wife insane and it may affect the outcome of her continued proffession in dental care.

Incidentally if the proffession has to be left does the Canadian government pay for re-training due to it being a medical allergy?

her allergy, since she is wearing gloves at the time cannot be from the materials she is using as she is having no contact with them! her allergy is more than likely from the powder in the gloves!!, a lady i worked with had this problem and had a similar reaction to the one you are describing. i believe they make gloves with no powder, not positive though, check into it, and she needs to see a dermatologist.

I've never heard of compsite allergies. I can't see out a contact reaction can occur from something she isn't touching... If she is in dental, I'm sure she washes her hands like crazy. I've have a few friends that found it to be the soap they use. They weren't throughly rinsing the soap off and it irritated and crack their hands. Also a great lotion it Glove'n'Care. I've heard that sometimes the powder can do it too.
