None ever heard of "freedom of religion", religion is only exclusively national in a small number of countries such as Iceland where the state religion is Lutheranism.

Although, the Declaration of Independence and every preamble of every state Constitution recognize God as an aide to the foundation of this country, implying God the Father from Christianity, it is not specifically worded that way nor does it appear in the U.S. Constitution, the primary doctrine of the United States; though a state or region could choose differently according to local or state legislation.

The culture of the United States does however affect all religious groups and individuals within the country, this occurs in nearly every country in the world. These issues regard women's suffrage, slavery, sexual immorality, animal abuse, marriage, etc. Depending on the country these things may or may not be tolerated as part of a person's religion.

Christians in all their denominations are the principal religion in the USA, though there are estimates that pagans and Wiccans are gaining quickly, we're just quieter about it.

I wouldn't know the breakdown of Catholic vs. Protestant. I think it's safer to just say "Christian".

It depends on how you count. There are more Protestants in general than Catholics in the USA. But Roman Catholics are the single largest denomination in the USA. The largest Protestant denomination is Baptist, but it has sub-denominations.

Evangelical Protestants are perhaps the most visible Christians there because they believe very strongly in proselytizing.

There are so many denominations of Christians in this country, and then divisions in each denomination that it's just too hard to put a name to it all, other than Christian.
I don't know the exact meaning of Protestant versus Catholic, so I can't say if that would be an accurate description.

There's both Protestant AND Catholic Churches everywhere here. There's more Protestant churches in the southern U.S. but I still believe that there's overall more Roman Catholics here. However, less then a quarter of them really practise it.

ya, my dad says if your not catholic then your protestant, which comes from the word PROTEST. according to him there IS no other religion and we're all going to hell. very narrow-minded, i know.

i grew up with religious wars in my own family, which is why i left the catholic faith in the first place.
