Not at all. There was a recent case of this in Africa, with her sentence (being buried to the neck and stoned) being "reconsidered" because of the international reaction. Other behaviors have been protested, too. The South American custom of a man murdering his divorced wife if she starts to date again, and calling it a matter of "honor". Indian women being burned in a "cooking accident" because the dowry didn't come through. Why should Muslims be given a pass? They just convicted a man in Georgia for cutting his daughter's clitoris off with a pair of scissors in order to be sure she remained "good". He may protest his sentence, but she'll suffer longer than he will. This isn't ethnocentricity. It's an ability to empathize with a person who suffers. Those without the ability to empathize aren't faithful to any religion; they're merely psychopaths.

Don't care if its ethnocentric or not, its evil. This was happening in Afganistan when our forces first got over there, guess the Taliban was very into Shiite law. Even when raped, if the victim doesn't have 4 witnesses to the rape, (yeah, rapists usually bring witnesses with them), they'll get stoned to death for having sex. There was story on the news about this last year in an islamic run region of Africa, the woman was pregnant, so they were merciful in waiting until she had the baby to kill her. And you wonder why people are afraid of islam, its because its laws are not only archaic, but downright evil.

They were going to kill that woman who had a baby outside of wedlock. I don't know that they'd stone her, but she was sentenced to death by a Muslim-controlled government. And no, I don't remember which one.
No, it's not ethnocentric to say that a custom is "barbaric", or whatever kinda term you want to use. People in this country complain about the fact that many states still have the death penalty, and that's within a single society. Well, maybe it's ethnocentric, but there's nothing wrong with saying you don't like what a country or religion does based on your own experience. People in the US have sex outside of marriage allllll the time, and though I don't approve of it (I think cheating is an absolute scourge and a plague and it's a horrible thing to do), I wouldn't kill somebody for doing it. And if I were going to kill somebody, I definitely wouldn't stone him/her--I'd do a lethal injection or clock him/her in the head or something.
I'm part of a society, I grew up in it, I don't espouse all its beliefs, but it's my main frame of reference and I can say something's wrong based on my own experience and morals. Ethnocentric, sure. I accept my ethnicity. I don't think I'm particularly close-minded or bigoted or whatever, but I definitely have been influenced by my background and that's the filter through which I view the world. I have a good grasp of what's out of line, and killing somebody for an infraction like out-of-wedlock sex is waaaayyyy too harsh.
But I hate the hypocrisy in the US. Like the whole gays-are-evil thing. No gay marriage, no gays in the military, no gays in the church, no gays in the world...it's ridiculous to persecute gays when they're consenting adults and not cheating on each other, when cheating is such a terrible thing to do to somebody. It's so damn cruel! I'd rather have somebody steal my stuff, beat me up even, than cheat on me. Cheating destroys relationships--the lying! The coveting! The sneaking around and putting somebody's life at risk with STDs! Just break up with the person! I think cheating is one of the worst things you can do to someone you supposedly love--I don't know if I could stay with somebody who cheated on me. I think it would kill a relationship. So don't do it.
But I'm not going to stone you for it.

probably a good idea to keep your nose in your own back yard. Note woman through the first stone.
USA 85% of woman murdered are killed by their husbands, so why you think they are being killed. Cuz they are btchy, if that were the cause not many would last 28 days.

Wrong sherzade, even in this modern day, muslim women are still stoned; however, this act is not of Islam...it's just old eastern tradition.
Remember the Jews also used to stone their women; jesus condemned it...'let he who is without sin throw the first stone.'
Politics has indeed contaminated true Islam.

I don't know where you got that, but it is a good idea. I'll speak to the Pastor about reviving that custom in the U.S., Thanks.
