You might try exercise, if you don't already do that regularly. I've read studies about exercise being just as good as medication for moderate depression symptoms. You can always ask the doctor next time you go for some medical advice, they might give you samples of some anti-depressants in case you do decide to go that route. Good luck and take care!

Do something. Do anything. Activity is the best antidote for mild depression.
Volunteer to help people less fortunate than you are. Tutor a child. Visit a nursing home. Call a person you know is alone most of the time. Plant flowers. Watch a feel good movie. Listen to favorite music. Volunteer in a soup kitchen. Clean out a closet and give some of your things to the poor. Journal. Do something to nurture yourself. Meditate. Go to the library.
Try to figure out what you are thinking that is bringing you down. Write the opposite of those thoughts and use them as affirmations to change your thinking. Repeate the affirmations often. I suggest reading a book called Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda. It is most likely in your public library.

If it's only a mild depression, don't try and think abt the event that you are depressed about. Go out and do something. It doesn't mean have to be spending money. It cud be just window shopping, going for Yoga, exercise, using the steam and sauna, jacazzi, massage. These are all good for your body and mind. Good Luck. Life is too short to getting depressed...Stay happy always or at least try!

If it is only mild depression, try changing your routine. Do something different. Be kinder to yourself and go get a new shirt or shoes or something. The most important thing is to not just sit around and 'think' about bad things all the time. Go to an art show, or museum. But keep going, don't allow it to take a stronger hold on you. Good Luck!!!!!

I've only suffered from depression once, and I got out of it by reading the Bible from cover to cover. The key with depression is that it's a neruochemical imbalance in the brain caused either by medication or constantly thinking negative thoughts. And the only way to get rid of it is to eliminate those negative thoughts on a consistent basis. It will take a period of weeks to months to get over it without medication, but I think it's better that way. I wouldn't recommend using anti-depression medication unless you had a severe case.
good luck.

Exercise and healthy eating are good for mild depression; also try to get outdoors to get as much sunlight as possible - daylight helps your brain produce endorphins.

You should consider a couple things... What factors are making you feel depressed.... and how long has it been going on for. If it has been persistent and everything makes you feel depressed consider getting help. Get help especially if it is affecting your eating and most of your daily activities.

If it lasts for a month or longer or gets worse, go to your Dr. & tell them about it. They may give you a low dose antidepressant and/or send you to a therapist. Either way it's better than being depressed.

Medication see a psychiatrist or psychologist who will refer you to a doctor who can prescribe medication for depression. There are many types (ie: prozac, zoloft, etc). Once your mood is elevated, perhaps you can ween off the medication. See your doctor!
