There is no cure. Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic - but hopefully a sober one.

Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic! The longer an alcoholic abstains from booze, the better. The tricky thing is being able to associate with people who are drinking and stay sober. The cells in the liver do regenerate but at a slow rate. Alcoholism can cause cirrhosis of the liver which is a condition where the cells die and no longer regenerate. This condition can be seen by a yellowing of the skin and is a very bad sign. There is no known cure for alcoholism. The only treatment is abstinence.

I am a recovering alcoholic. I was an alcoholic/drug addict (their really the same thing) when I was born and even though I have not had a drink or any drugs in 28 years I am still an alcoholic/drug addict. There is strong evidence that addiction has a big genetic component. If I were to drink or use drugs again I would quickly spiral out of control and most likely be dead in a few years.

Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic. It is true you can be a sober alcoholic. I know someone who hasn't drank for 20 years but she still calls herself an alcoholic.

Yep. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. They can be a "recovering" alcoholic, but they're still one. Alcoholism is a disease.... kinda like once you have cancer, you become a "cancer survivor"....

the reality which you're changing does not recommend that he will. in case you push him to alter, its extra desirable than possibly that he won't. do not stress him at this ingredient and four out of seven days isn't unavoidably an alcoholic. it may count number on what and how lots he's eating. working example: If he merely has some beers consistent with day and not something better than that, possibility is, he isn't an alcoholic. Too a lot of human beings get eating socially misconstrued with what a actual alcoholic is. despite the fact that, If he beverages himself to oblivion and lower back, and he beverages heavy alcohol like whisky, then possibility is he's probable based on alcohol. He desires a reason to prefer to alter and the reality which you end isn't sufficient rationalization for him. Leaving him could desire to do the trick, despite the fact that it may desire to backfire too. meaning he could desire to sober up and locate somebody else in view which you weren't there for him. He desires to be attentive to you care and prefer him to do it in his on time. that could desire to motivate him sufficient to attempt to stop on his very own quicker. Him not admitting he has a difficulty isn't reason sufficient to bypass away, yet him not doing something to repair the difficulty could be if there is definitely a difficulty. (AA assembly's, in case you will them talk approximately not something yet alcohol. I continually wanted a lager after ai left whether i did not prefer one till now with the aid of fact all they did became into talk approximately it. i don't believe the retaining palms and praying concern the two. it is not their option to make for me. the reality that they like to place every physique down that drink that we like could permit you be attentive to a minimum of something. they're brainwashing human beings into believing they're alcoholics. some could be, yet not all. it may desire to help some, yet I even have yet to pay attention of any lasting outcomes. Its will potential which will make you stop or decelerate, not AA conferences. They harm marriages and finally extra lives than they save. They make you sense as in case you accomplished undesirable issues on your existence and prefer you to do some stupid 12 step software to get by using it. Then they provide you a bright token for asserting you stayed sober. Its merely retarded. do not permit it harm your marriage, get out now) keep in mind, he's a guy and under the impact of alcohol or sober, he has his delight to shelter. He could come around extra valuable by making use of not being pushed. If it turns into insufferable for you, then leaving could be your merely answer.

NO!

If you quit smoking are you still a smoker?

It's only in Alcoholics Anonymous where you have a "disease" for life and are granted a daily reprieve.

And I could go on about the "disease" too....
