This is an easy one. I came up with this years ago. get a digital clock or some small light source and focus on it with your eyes in the dark. The swaying in your inner ear is still happening but the info from the eyes is telling your brain it isnt. The clock may constantly try to drift out of your field of vision but concentrate on it and try to keep it steady. When sleep starts to hit and your eyes close your brain thinks it can still see the clock. You will then drift off into restful REM sleep. Hope this helps.

I recently experienced that same damned thing when I was quitting caffeine. You turn to one side and your balance thing takes a few minutes to follow you - very disconcerting. And with you, a bit worse than that, with the symptoms you described.. Well, it is alcohol trying to tell you you have either had too much or (this is the one I prefer) that you shouldn't go near the stuff. I think it is a fair trade-off: quit your drinking and get back your equilibrium. If that doesn't strike you as a fair deal, you can keep drinking, and lose a few more things. Harsh, but true. Best to you, always. Chris.

Drink at least 2 pint glasses of water, sit propped up in bed for a while before falling asleep. The water either does the trick or you're sick sooner rather than later!!! which is better than lying there all night knowing you are going to be sick.

eat something carb based - sandwich, toast, noodles, chrisps - and drink at least two pints of water. Sit down for about 15 min, use the bathroom then go to bed. That should calm it abit. Works for me. Also, if you get hangovers...set an alarm for at least 1 and a half hours before you need to be up and when it goes off take two paracetemol and go back to sleep until you have to be up. Works like a charm!
Happy drinking matey!

While lying in bed place one foot on the ground.... That will get rid of those sensations...
These amateur drunks above me don't know a thing.... BTW, to avoid a hangover have a bottle of seltzer water next to your bed and drink as much if it as possible before you pass out and then drink more if you wake up during the night.

That is called bed spin.
There is nothing that can stop bed spin. Period.
Bed spin is a sign that you have just about overdosed on alcohol.
Severe bed spin means you have alcohol poisining and are in danger of dying.
You get sick because your body would like to stay alive and is puking out the booze.
And all through this, your liver is hardening and will sooner or later stop processing alcohol and toxins and kill you.
Try AA. You already know your life is out of control because of the drinking.

I usually dont drink really late plus i dont get sleepy when im drunk...Whatever you do dont go to sleep drunk just stay up and party untill it wears off some...alcohol poisoning happens when you go to bed drunk and then you either throw up and choke on it, or stop breathing...but to stop that roller coaster feeling just dont lay down.....and drink some water

Drink some water, eat something small, take an aspirin...this usually helps me avoid a hangover after a late night of drinking..

Eat and drink soda or water before you get to bed! Makes you feel so much better! And maybe you shouldn't drink alcohol straight before you get to bed!

Get on a roller coater when ever you are drunk is one thing. Or you could have a cup of tea and a biscuit that works for me every time. Or for your Yanks have a cup a coffee!
