No you do not, if you stay in the airport. If you have a stopover of only a couple hours there is nothing around the airport as it is on the outskirts of Toronto. The best thing would to stay in the airport and just wander through the shops or grab a bit to eat.

If you only connecting to a flight that leads to another country and you don't have any criminal convictions you should be fine with out anything more that proper id, but if you plant to visit canada you will need to contact immigration for a visitors permit
