when talking about the general viewpoint of how men can aquire material goods (money, etc) and how they are distributed across society, Isn't it ironic that conservatives believe more in the notion of pure capitalism than "godless" liberals do. I mean, capitalism is essentially "survival of the fittest," and last time i checked, that is not a very "christian" notion. myself i actually am more of a conservative (fiscally, anyways) but can any explain otherwise for me

If God blesses us with material possessions there's nothing wrong with enjoying them, as long as we keep Him first in our lives! Why should the heathens of the world have control of all the money... ;-)

Why would it not ask your self you that conservatives oppose socialism? and how is employer paid reward 'socialistic on your opinion? the federal government is an employer. Why shouldn't it grant similiar reward that the civilian sector does? Employers have a vested interest in ensuring their workers are wholesome. the protection rigidity moreso than virtually the different. Servicemembers extra suitable than the different group EARN the advantages they get carry of. They pay their taxes and take disadvantages to guard your precise to loose speech, whether you would be extra useful served workout your precise to proceed to be silent. Conservatives carry forth individual and company accountability. interior the case you utilize, the corporate is the federal government and if everyone could get carry of reward from it, it somewhat is it is workers and those human beings keen to take the risks to guard it and it is shape. i'm no longer likely to delve too deeply into politics right here, yet I do discover it interesting that a individual who seems by potential of their verbage to be liberal would insinuate that the warriors and veterans of this u . s . could lose reward through fact others have not earned nor volunteered to earn those reward.

That would be a matter of opinion. Can you prove that capitalism is essentially survival of the fittest? Aren't you stereotyping when you say "conservatives"?

And where in the bible does it say, "thou shalt not believe in capitalism and survival of the fittest?"

to respond to Rev's "point" he made, if the sinners today would be willing to feed me, clothe me, shelter me, and pay my taxes for me, then yes, I'd be willing to live the same way Jesus did. Jesus was a minister who took donations from His followers (aka paying tithes). ministers today can't win for losing. If they quit their jobs to minister full-time, they are harangued for stealing money from the poor. If they continue working to make a living, they are obviously not dedicated.
conservative Christians support capitalism because it is actually free will in action. you can give to charity, or you can choose not to, the choice is yours. when a secular government gives my money to secular charities that I disagree with, that's a problem for me.
and in response to the answer below me, that's bunk. most of the Christians I know were not born on "third base", their families are not on the top, and they are not living the good life at someone else's expense. In fact, most of the wealthy people I know are liberals.

Conservatives make more money but they also give way more to charity and are way more prone to start hospitals etc.
I don't think it's survival of the fittest at all.

Yes. Jesus owned nothing and if these christians want to follow his example, they should also own nothing.
