Somewhere down the line your daughter thought everything around her is popularity contest and pinpointing where this behavior stems from takes a bit of backtracking.
Ask yourself, “Why does my daughter feel the need to act like Miss Smarty Pants? Is it because someone outside or inside the household is putting her down? Is it because she feels like she doesn’t have a set role amongst the family? Is it because her other brothers and sisters are getting praises for their excellent progress in school but she is falling behind and maybe feeling like a failure? Is someone else in the household or outside of the household demonstrating the same behavior and the only way she knows how to react is to spit it back in everyone’s face?”
Once you’ve come to some understanding address the problem. Reassure her, don’t attack her, don’t roll your eyes at here, but reassure her. Give her a pat on the back from time to time. You know what I mean?
Most of all she probably just wants you to feel like you can trust her. That yes, she is your daughter, yes you love her, and want to protect her but as a parent your job is to socialize your daughter. Your job is to get her ready for the next level in life and that trust is something she maybe fighting for, expressing by acting as if she knows everything.
paaatches –Talk to her. Ask her what’s going on. Does she want more freedom? Does she need more reassurance? Talk to her.

My guess is that she must be a teenager. It's funny, I am 55, y kids are grown and yet I remember vividly how I felt as a teen and I was one of those that had all the answers. I looked out at life and just knew how everything worked - it was all so simple.
Luckily, I outgrew it. The only thing that you, as a parent, can do is hold a steady course in what you do know - be consistent and discipline with love and good humor. You have to laugh - or you will cry your way to the nuthouse!!

I have one just like this at home too. Actually two!
Remember your own teen years! My mom got smarter by the time I was in my 20s.
Hang in and don't give up or give in. They told me that here too!
I've learned about nagging and giving out advice and information when they don't want it. Sometimes they ask, but a lot of time... they won't and make mistakes and screw up! Oh well... perhaps that is the lesson.
Hang in there. I find a good single malt helps during this time!

If she is a teenager, that's normal. Be happy that you have a normally developing daughter.
