My grandfather came over from Italy and was in the world war. I also care and understand the wantings of all immigrants. The united states was a "life boat" to the rest of the world, even more so back then. The problem in 2006 is that this life boat is completely full, in danger of sinking, and is carrying a lot of illegals that don't want to man the oars or bail out the water with buckets. What good does it do to help those that won't help themselves if we all perish?

A while ago when I was in school yet, our Sociology teacher posed a question( as many do) about a lifeboat with survivors on it; many on the boat were near death. One person was given the task of deciding how to ration water and food for all the survivors. This individual divided the rations amongst all of the survivors equally, even those who would perish anyway(human nature). However, by the end of this social experiment, I do recall... we all perished. There was not enough to ration out to all, so we ended up starved, dehydrated and then fish food.

Yes, the whole world turns to us the U S A to bail them out. Even in Iraq, when we were getting rid of that A H, we were the good guys, then the min he's gone, it's ok how fast can you leave. Now with the illegal immigrants, its ok what can you give us. If they had wanted to help themselves, they would have stayed in Mexico, and stood up to the government, and said we have had enough. If we want a fence, then we are the bad guys. They even went crying to Rome, the A C L U, and LaRaza. They want all the help they can get, but can not or do not want to help themselves.

Very well spoken. However, I think there might be one thing which is incorrect about your analogy. This country isn't a life boat, which would be a closed environment with no escape.
It is not completely full. It is not in danger of sinking.

Another fallacy to your reasoning is that there are many people who are not illegals... not even immigrants, but born right here in this country... who do not want to work to support themselves and pay taxes to support the country.

We will not all perish. The poor will always exist off the crumbs dropped by the rich. Do you ever stop to think about how much money is WASTED by rich people in this country??? People who pay $500 for a lousy pair of shoes... money that could feed a poor family for months.

Immigrants... legal or illegal... are doing a lot of work that natural born citizens are not willing to do.

Immigration laws need to be enforced.... and welfare handouts should be ONLY for those who are here legally. But I see no need to panic and cry, "We will all perish." It's just not true.

You are right. The difference between now, and years ago, immigrants came here to become an "American". They had to wait, and abide by all the rules. When I went to school, children had to learn "English". Things were structured, people had manners. There was never at any one time, sooooo many people coming over at once. When this happens, it gets out of control. Our country is going to be just the like the countries they came from, third world, because it is "out of control".
They are ruining what makes this country different. They constantly "praise" their countries, so why did they leave. Don't they realize their countries did not care about them, or they wouldn't have to have left.

This is why we need reform. Give a chance for those who've really worked hard and separate the violent ones & the ones who've abused the welfare system.

Ah, how eloquent yet insipid. Do you honestly think you can cover up your racist intentions with flowery words.
