Yes. It turns from red to brown due to the meat going through chemical changes in the myoglobin. Those chemical changes will not effect you unless the meat is spoiled. You know the meat has gone bad when it has a funny smell and sticky or tacky to the touch. So if you don't plan to use the meat in about 2 to 3 days go ahead and put it in the freezer. And beef can be frozen for up to six months. When defrosting, you can put in the fridge until thawed, place in cold water while in the package, or microwave. Always cook after defrosting and never re-freeze.

RE:
If hamburger meat has a little brown color to it, is it still good to cook and eat?

Usually a little discoloration is fine, even normal.
Just smell it before you cook it, as long as it's not an offensive odor, it should be fine.

It's not freezer burned if you just put it in the freezer. If it smells fin, im sure it is still good. It does tend to brown if it thaws outside of thawing it in the refrigerator.

Yes it will be OK. When meat really turns bad you will know it by the smell especially.

you need to smell it first, if it smells ok its fine. the reason it is somewhat brown is because the blood from the meat has drained to the bottom.

you should go more by the odor of it than the color. if it has the least hint of a foul smell i would forego it.
