My girlfriend had to go to the next island to study. She needed money to go there to reserve a room before the school starts. I gave her money. Due to my workload, i couldn't go with her. She said she would travel with her friend who was from the island. I said OK. She didn't want me to come to the airport to send her off. I didn't think big deal of it. Later on, i found out that the friend who she traveled with was the one who had been sending her intimate text messages to her cell phone and I had told her to tell him to back off. After I found that out, i broke up with her but I remember i gave her a notebook computer provided that she pay for it. She never paid for it. Should i take the computer back? My lawyer says there is no chance i could take it back because she will tell everyone it was gift. But i know it wasn't and there was a verbal agreement.

next time get it in writing. There really isn't much you can do unless she voluntarily gives it back- which isn't likely. Just let it go and chalk it up to experience the next time you are dating someone. Good Luck and sorry things worked out this way for you this time.

Talk to your lawyer about the verbal agreement. I know that most states back it up but proving that it actually took place will be tricky. Have you asked her about either paying for it or giving it back? If she refuses let her know you are prepared to take her to court and remind her you had a verbal agreement. However, courts tend to ignore the 'verbal agreement' claim when an ex has done you wrong thinking you have done it out of spite.

You already seen a lawyer. Drop it, if you don't have it in writing that she would pay for it the computer was a gift.
P.S: Going to court and fighting this would cost more than the computer is worth. Next time get all agreements in writing.

get a new girlfriend and next time don't give them anything you are not willing to loose. Without something in writing, you probably won't get the notebook back, just chalk it up as a lesson learned
