The best way is to exercise and diet. The amount of time depends on the intensity and length of your exercises. Cardio exercises which increase your heart rate 60 to 80% of your peak level are your most effective exercises. A minimum of 30 minutes 3 times a day is required to maintain, therefore, increasing that with more days or longer exercises will help lose weight.
Lifting weights is beneficial along with cardio since having more muscle mass aids in assimilation of fat. The more you have, the more you burn fat.
your diet plays a key role. Maintaining a low fat, no saturated fat or trans fat diet is crucial. you also need to avoid sugars and food with high sodium content. Keeps your complex carbs in moderation while consuming roughly 50% of protein.
To avoid gaining the loss weight back, it is best to lose 2.5 to 3 lbs per week. Quick weight loss increases the chance of a quick weight regain.

okay first off you need to lose about 35-50 pounds but no less my dad is 6'2 and weighs about 173. My dad keeps it off by not totaly giving up snacks and all but take about 5 30 minute runs in a week. Limit yourself to about 2 snacks daily like after dinner and between school (depending on your age) and dinner time. And not a big snack. It really should only take about 5 months to really see a change.
My friends dad lost so much weight from not eating anything white no bread, rice, white meet, you know stuff like that and after about 8 month he looked totaly good
