This Is An Question That Boggles My Mind. Shouldn't Religion Promote Tolerance For One Another? I Know Some Of You Will Respond That It Does Promote Tolerance And Acceptance IF Those People Change Their Ways. NewsFlash, That Is Not Accepting People For Who They Are. For Example, The Most Obvious Example Is HomoSexuals.

Many People Condemn Those Who Are Homosexual In The Name Of Religion. Some Also Go To the Extent Of Damning Individuals To Hell, And Saying God HATES. How could one come to the conclusion that God Hates, and God condemns just because one is different?

Secondly, Many Will Quote The Bible Blindlessly. If The Bible Were Taken Literally, Then I Guess Slavery Would Still Be Permited. "Slaves Obey Your Masters". Seriously People, We Live In A Contemporary Society Where We Should Be Able To Think And Evaluate What Is Right/Wrong. Religion Is Great, And I Am Not Blaming Any Religion. I Think That People Are Just Led Blindly As Like Sheep Following Each Other.

You say that asking ppl to change their behavior isn't accepting ppl for who they are. So you think that your behavior defines who you are? You're only a homosexual if you engage in homosexual behavior, so if you stop, you're not a homosexual anymore. Having those attractions is only temptation, that isn't sin. Indulging in those temptations is, however.

Your lack of wisdom certainly shines through. The reason homosexuality is a sin is bc God designed sex to be between a man and a woman in marriage. The masculine and feminine natures complement each other and are the best situation for raising children. God doesn't hate homosexuals, He hates homosexuality, the sin, not the sinner. Big difference.

With reference to slaves obeying their masters. Paul was dealing with a cultural situation. He apparently felt that some problems weren't severe enough to bother changing, but He still provided rules as to how the slaves and masters should be treated. Old Testament Law also gives guidelines for this, and I think that on the seventh year (Year of Jubilee), the slaves were released and all debts were cancelled, so I don't think it was a permanent thing, though I'm not sure.

Some religions hate certain people because they are seen as flat out EVIL. But their is a big difference between an evil person (Hitler, Saddam, Charles Manson), and someone who lives a sinful life style (homosexuals, drunkards, liars). No person here on earth has the capability to damn anyone to hell. Only God can do that.

To see if you are eligible to be damned to hell, read the book of Leviticus and see if you commit any of those sins. After reading it, then read the new testament to see that God loves us so much that he payed the penalty of the sins found in the book of Leviticus for you and I.

Also you obviously have not read the bible because you would realize that the "Slavery" that the bible talks about is actually servant-hood(bondservents). And every single commandment in the bible can and would benefit everyone if they were followed.

That people should know that a loving God sent both a savior and an anti-savior to us is too hard to imagine, but its true. Anything that stops us from careing about others is a teaching of the anti-christ for Jesus the Christ plainly said the only unforgiveable sin was denying the power of the Holy Spirit which means everybody can be forgiven, especially all the people the anti-Christ lists. I find it very telling that the Anti-christ declares jobs for the Holy Spirit rather than following what Jesus called it, a comforter. Of course, no one makes such allegations about St. Paul and follows American religous teachings. He is greater than Jesus because he has led the supposed righteous to be deceived into beliving God is attached to physical feelings and that love is just another of these, or worse, love is just sex. Nothing that mankind constructs is permanent so get over yourselves and forgive so that you too may be forgiven, or not, your choice.

First of all, people cannot be their own predictor of what is right and wrong...the world would be in a state of absolute chaos if that was the way things were run...some think murder is perfectly acceptable, some see incest, spousal abuse adultery, theft, battery, etc..all as legitimate ways to live...do you understand your flawed thinking? We NEED BLACK and WHITES, right and wrongs as moral codes, and whether or not you happen to be in agreement with what God has set down in His Word, they are there for the benefit of everyone. In the OT, what is translated as SLAVES, was more along the lines of butlers, maids, etc...thats why, a lot of them, when their time of service to their "masters" was up, would VOLUNTEER to stay with them afterwards, because they would be better off in their jobs with them, then to have no home, food, or place for their family to reside, as was their case before becoming a "slave". Sorry, but homosexuality, just like every other sexual sin mentioned in the Bible is wrong and if you understand the reasons why, you would realize it's just plain common sense and for societies protection. NOT a case of the blind leading the blind...my eyes are WIDE open...how about YOURS?

That IS the whole purpose of organized religion...why else would ye need thirty or forty other people to help you have a private relationship with your god?

The founders of this country held individualism to be sacred, but these days, everyone seems to need a label and belong to a club.

There are tales of certain spirits called a Druj which inhabit only dismembered parts of a body, such as a hand or foot. Alone, they are quite ineffective, but working collectively, they may reach into the mundane to wreak their havoc.

Ye cannot steal respect from others by forcing it. Religion is supposed to be inward for self-improvement, thus effecting the outer world in your own success...not forcing others to do it ONLY your way. Such is a cookie-cutter mentality that denies their own humanity and individuality and tries to call it holiness.

Salam!
I don't think that it's true for all religions. Since i'm a Muslim, i can formally speak for myself only. You might laugh when i say that Islam does not preach hatred towards any religions or people. In fact, it teaches tolerance towards all religions and people unless the people start a quarrel or a fight, then they can defend themselves. But it seems as if the media is going and putting a bad impression on religion by including it in the war! Governments are using religion to gain support and cause hatred toward others.

Seek the truth, allah(God) Willing, you will find it!

This may be news to you...God does Hate. His vengeance and wrath are as great as His love. He especially hates the abomination of homosexuality, anyone who has even cracked the bible knows that. God and His word condemns, not people. People merely relay what is written by God. Nothing more, nothing less.

- we (or at least true Christians) do not approve of homosexuality, and will do all in our power to stop it. However, God has blessed everyone with free will, so we will respect (even if we do not approve of) your choice.
- we wish to make it unlawful because homosexuals have a negative effect on the children of society.
- in the Greek translation of the Bible (one of the originals) the word "servant" was used in the place of the word "slave". Also, take into context the way as to which the Bible reffered to "slaves". Masters were to treat them fairly and pay them.

Because to these people religion is not about being good, its about believing in something that represents their needs and ideas. Its arrogance, they don't worship god, they worship an extension of themselves. So if they hate gays, then the religion that was made up to justify their hatred must hate gays too. Its a simple matter of being an introvert.

god doesnt hate people-and they condemn themselves. homosexuality is wrong simply because it goes against the natural order of things. it is a sin of desire. r u open to rapists, murderers and chold molestors? Im not saying being gay is on the same level-but all r wrong never-the-less. so is cheating on ur spouse. its not that christians hate gay people-thats a lie-we just hate homosexuality, although some churches sadly promote it to be poliltically correct.
