It seems like it would hurt ALOT because they can have up to 6 kittens, where as a person usually has just one baby, and that hurts alot.

Cats go through labor pains just as humans do, so, yes, it is painful for them to give birth.

I've been with quite a few cats when they gave birth. Most come to me when they are getting ready to have them. One even had them in my bed underneath the covers. I felt something wet, woke up and found she had just delivered her first kitten.

Anyway, most of the time, I never heard a noise of any kind out of the cat giving birth. A few kinda grunted when the kitten was coming out. Most of them had their claws retracting back and forth. That made me think they were in pain, but not unbearable.

The last cat came and jumped on my bed. I was asleep. The next thing I know, she started screaming (that's what it sounded like). I woke up and found her in labor. She cried and screamed everytime a baby was born. I had never witnessed this before. It really freaked me out. She was just over a year old and obviously didn't know what was happening. I calmed her and she made it through it ok. After hearing her screams, I guarantee you that cats do feel pain when giving birth. Some take it better than others, just like people.

Yes it is just as painful for a cat, dog or any other animal to go through labor & delivery as it is for human women.

The reason most cats don't show pain or make a sound is natures safety mechanisim. To show pain or make a sound could prove fatal to a cat/dog and their kittens/puppies...it makes them vulnerable to preditors.

They don't appear to suffer. I was present when my cat gave birth and she took it in her stride.
The reason it hurts humans is the large head.

It is as painful and to allow a cat or dog to have their heats for no reason other than you are too lazy or too cheap to have them spade it just cruel.

I don't know if it would hurt at all. I would suppose it would only becuase they would have to go though labour pains the same as we would. That is my opinion I wouldn't take my word on it.
