With all the problems with the illegal immigrants it may spill over towards all immigrants. I've talked to some legal immigrants from different countries, some who have become citizens and some who are waiting and they feel totally slapped in the face by all the illegal immigrants, they took the time and effort to come into this country legally ( which makes me feel that they actually have an affinity for this country and aren't just here for the money and/or benefits ) and
people who couldn't care less about this country can just stroll in, it's a disgrace.

There will be racism towards newcomers. However, in my opinion, I think the bulk of any resentment comes at the expense of illegals that enter the country. Their image is personified on people of their ethnic group and perhaps immigrants as a whole. The USA has become a bigger melting pot so it's less of an issue. As more people that come to this country to abuse the government financially and bend legal precedents that generation(s) where required to follow in the past, a ripple effect will come about everyone immigrating as a whole.

Are you speaking of immigrants as in Hispanic? If so, then the ones who are here...legally...are unfortunately taking the heat from those who are illegal. The Hispanics are not the only ones who went through this...Jewish, Irish, German and many others, especially in the late 1800's when there was a surge in immigration. So, I think there is a link between racism and the legal citizens.

There is racism every where
Some have issues with where they are from ,how they talk,or dress.,there are people that just hate other people for no reason. There are a lot of people that don't like Asian people,I never could figure that out,I love my neighbor that's from Taiwan. They are the sweetest people I know.I don't dislike any one solely because of where they are from or how they talk or dress .I judge them by the way they treat me and my family.
I do not hold petty prejudices,if I dislike a person its for something they have done, not what nationality they are.
Because I am anti illegal I get pigeon holed as being a racists but I know what and who I am so it doesn't bother me what someone calls me.I know the truth.

Yes, but since that's not a race, a better word might be "prejudice" or "stereotypes about them".
Even caucasian immigrants are often assumed to be stupid or untrustworthy.
Sadly, many people forget that their great grandparents or great-great-grandparents were likely immigrants....and that many immigrants are better educated that the typical American!

if you mean stereotyping and racial remarks..possibly even over generalizing then yes i do believe there is racism...lots of it. Im not trying to make a sob story but seriously people need to get their heads out of their butts and realize that when they make stereotypical comments they are just sticking there foot in their mouth. Some of the many comments that I have recieved include remarks on appearance and on how i "don't look the part of someone hispanic"..."do all hispanics look the same?... i understand that it happens in every culture but with the immgration issues surrounding us it's hard to go by w/o having someone talk about a person and refer to them as illegal because they look mexican...anywayz last comment dont judge people get to know them and you'll understand.

From my point of view, as a legal immigrant who has been to many countries around the world, skin color and being American makes this the most prejuicous country I've ever seen! Ignorance against peoples skin color, heritage, nationality and religion has gotten the best of this country!

Difficult question to answer mixed with politics. People believe that their government should treat them better then they do the immigrants because they live here, the statment is justified but it can be considered racism.

Of Course ! And I realize you're speaking of legal immigrants.
Go to the 1860's and see how the Irish and Chinese were treated when they arrived in the USA!
Even MY German ancestors were derided because of their poor English, their diet, and their names.
Back then though, folks adapted to their new country. Names would be "Anglicized": Wilhelm Shaefer became William Shepherd.

i think of that racist jokes are humorous by way of fact they're absurdly untrue or unfair or exagerrate fairly. It would not be any exciting to tell a dimwit that he's stupid. Me to my black acquaintances who're twins: "Does absolutely everyone ever call you Hekel and Jekel?" Kirk: "no longer too many MF'ers prefer to be missin' tooth" *everybody laughs* minutes later: Kurt: *holds out a graham cracker* "Have a graham, Cracker!" it particularly is a few humorous stuff.
