yes there is if you are willing to go with a brown color
you can use an oil-based stain and just thin it down with mineral oil to a good glazing medium consistency.
you can also use a water-based paint and thin it with water to a glaze consistency...although it will be harder to work with

Just saw it on HGTV tonight, put wax in the paint you're going to use for a glaze, rub it on with a rag. Once it's dry, buff it. It looked really cool!

Yes. I used FLOTROL it is used to thin out paint when using it in a power sprayer, without diluting the color. It works greak especially with glossier paint. It was recommended to me by a painter in home depot. It is cheaper and you get lots of it. You can find it at home depot if not ask for a paint conditioner.
