Im having a little get together with some friends this weekend, and i was thinking since its close to the holidays we would have eggnog. I know im supposed to mix it with rum, but what kind,light or dark.I have both. Its Bacardi.
Not everyone will want rum in theirs, so how much do I add to an individual glass? I dont want to make a quart or anything.

I've used dark or light. I always put in enough rum till it starts tasting bad, then I add a little more. I can't help it, I like getting drunk on egg nog and rum.
Another option is brandy in the egg nog instead of rum.

You want dark spiced rum. The amount depends on the size of the glass. A large amount would be an ounce of rum per pint of nog. I would start with half that and taste it. If it needs more than add more. Better to error on the less rum side and if people want more they can add it.

That's all up to you. I usually have seen dark, but sometimes light. Some like a lot, some like a little.
Of course, telling you how much to add to a glass is tough, because I don't know how big the glass is!
YOUR BEST BET: A couple of days ahead of time, try starting with 1 shot, then 2 shots, then 1 shot of each, and take a sip of each drink. See what you like best, and stick to that recipe in front of your friends!
And I sure hope you are 21.

Why not leave the bottle of rum out and let each person add their own ? I would choose dark rum.Yummy.

dark or light rum is good. you need to experiment with how much rum to add to each drink. try one your self and you will get the idea of how much

For every tall glass, pour two shots. For every regular/small glass, pour one shot. Since you aren't mixing it all together, ask them which rum (light or dark) they'd like you to pour in each glass.

The best would be a neutral spiit, like vodka. That way everybody will be happy. Not all people like rum.
