you should do a little, well even a lot more research. your statement is incorrect. the pope cares about the spirit of his flock. while mistakes were made in the handling of the abuse, hindsight is 20/20. you also have to ask yourself.... what about the pedophiles that are everywhere else in the world? they are NOT all in the Rcc. look at the sex offenders website and realize - this is a problem more so outside the church then in.
to the person stating that if priests were married it'd be different -- check out the website too and see -- married and unmarried but sexually active men are pedophiles.

To reject a religion because a nut job hurts a kid is foolish, but I agree with ya don't get me wrong here. I was molested as a child (not by a priest though), and know a lot of others with similar experiences, and I say give all those pedophile priest all to 'Bubba' and let the prisoners sort them out.

This type of things has been going on for decades, if not centuries. It has been known about by not only the priesthood, but also by many of the followers. My mother and her siblings grew up in a Catholic orphanage. They are no in their 80s.
The Catholics, just like any other religion that has elite pastors, they face a severe shortage of them. People just don't want the responsibility. They can't simply start booting priests, pastors, and ministers out because there are few to replace them, regardless of their sins. They can consolidate and create larger churches, but communities are putting limits on the size of them. They cause major disruptions to local neighborhoods, requiring police to control traffic.

Well, speaking as an ex-catholic atheist, I think at the very least they should reconsider STRONGLY not allowing priests to marry or allowing women into the priesthood.
That would be one hell of a good start.
EDIT:
Hmm...nowhere in here did I state that married men cannot be pedophiles. Or that women cannot be pedophiles.
I simply suggest that the church pull its head out of its ahem. For starters.

I know I am not to judge who is evil and who is not.
I would be a liar if I didn't admit many things in the Catholic Church makes my heart heavy, this issue is one of them.
Bless you,
David

pedophilic sex scandals are everywhere, you just like to attack those that are against you. Judge the Church for the good it has done not by a few weak-sinners. Think of all the good things you would not have if it wasn't for the Church.

Let's stick to your original question and let me ask you this in response:
What are YOU waiting for anyway?? Approval from others before you take any action??
Peace be with you.

Why is everyone of your questions about religion? Why does every atheist constantly ask about religion? If you are so sure that once we die that's it, I wouldn't waste your time here.
