It is totally normal to act a little "stupid" around someone you care about. You are so focused on making a good impression that you sometimes wind up doing just the opposite!
No worries! Your girl undestands and likes you all the more for your bumbling. Take a breath, relax and be yourself. Everything will be OK.

All guys think they act stupid around the girl they like at one time or another. If the girl likes you back (like you say this girl does), she probably isn't noticing that you're acting stupid-probably because she thinks she's acting stupid around you! Just have fun with her for now, there's plenty of time for relationships later.

Isn't it funny how all of a sudden it is like we took lessons in being shy , and the darn things are working. Find some common ground that you can talk freely with her and soon you will be chatting like old friends

It your nerves! My boy is in the same position as you and I have noticed he does and says some 'silly' things when she is around. He watches her whilst he does it so I know he is wanting her attention.
You already have this ladys attention so there is no need to allow your nerves to 'make you do and say stuff' to get it. You have it.
You need to utilise the saying of 'moving it along' and lead yourself to position 2 in the game of love. Position 1 is already secure, so roll your dice and take the next big step forward, do not collect $200 and you will not need to go to jail!!
Smile and ask her about 'herself'...no need to push your self into her face....you are already in her face and she yours...so take the opportunity to get her to 'talk about herself'. People love to talk about themselves. Ask about where she goes on holidays, does she enjoy any hobby such as horseriding....query further and you may create an idea of something you know you could enjoy doing with her. Get to know her as a friend and allow the foundation of this friendship to mature into wherever you may like it to go. Remember you do not own her, so allow her to have her own mind about stuff even if it is far out there. Conversation is the key right now rather than acting up. You need her to know who 'you are' and how can she when you are busy juggling oranges?
*B*R*E*A*T*H*E* this is one of many to come ;)
Blessings be yours in light and peace

Fifth grade? Wow. Go study, stop looking at girls. Maybe you just puberty way too early and she's a "s.l.u.t," no offense. I don't think dating should be allowed UNTIL at least 7th grade.
