It sounds like she is showing submissive behavior, but it also could be excitement- it's hard to say which without seeing her body language or having you describe it a little better.

If she's showing a sign of submission, your husband will have to be less assertive in how he contacts or pets her. Things like averting his eyes and head and lowering himself a bit as he slowly lets her come to his outstretched hand may help.

If she's excited, and losing bladder control, then try letting her out before he sees her. Then, let her run around his legs for a few moments before he reaches to her to pet her- she'll get a bit of the excitement and energy out of her system. Also, don't have him greet her in an excited high-pitched voice, which of course makes her happy and excited.

This is called "Submissive Peeing"!
Many dogs eventually outgrow it, but you can reduce it by building the dog's confidence up. Start with obedience training. The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat. Start at http://www.dogsbestfriend.com/ As you praise the dog for following your commands, it will build its confidence.

Good Luck

ugh, I hate when that happens... My mom's dog did that sooooo much, we called her Patty "puddles". My sis's dog yelps when she gets pet, then pees everywhere, as though someone was hurting her. But a simple touch will cause that reaction! It doesn't matter if my sis pets her, or someone else, it's going to happen!!! Her dog, (and my mom's) is a Pom though. Patty outgrew it, finally - she's 12! - and my sis's dog is about 4 or 5, and still has yet to outgrow it.....

Good luck with that... I KNOOOOOW how bad it sux!!!! I'm sure the bigger dog, the more pee too!!! eeeegh.......

So sorry on your loss. What you describe grew to become into the female being very dominant to the pup.frequent habit for an alpha lady.uncertain what you have been doing for self-discipline yet you mustn't have permit the grownup lady intrude. You permit her be alpha over you in those cases.you oftentimes permit the older dogs placed a sparkling pup in place and depart it at that and not segregate with the aid of fact of a nip with out any harm.to no longer criticize yet you ought to have in no way left the pup and older lady collectively unsupervised! She possibly grew to become into disciplining the pup exterior and have been given too tough.additionally grew to become into the pup having a issue recognizing the older dogs's p.c.. order?if so this could have made him greater pushy and make her greater aggressive to coach.you ought to get yet another pup yet you ought to learn your self the appropriate way of supervising them collectively.Sorry i do no longer mean to sound merciless.

This is a submissive behavior, and signals to your husband that she sees him as an authority figure and doesn't want to stir up any negative feelings. Many dogs will outgrow it. Mine did after a few months.

Sounds like she's afraid of him. I had a male dog that used to be afraid of meeting new people. During walks, people would ask if they could pet him. I'd tell Rusty to sit, then ask him to shake. He would raise is paw to shake and when they bent down to shake his hand he would pee on them. lol "bad Rusty-- bad dog"

We have that same problem with my roommates dog, and she just turned 1. Its really annoying! She has gotten much better with age, we make her go outside and anyone who comes over has to greet her outside too.

It's a puppy thing mostly due to excitement. Sometimes though, it can be a submissive act on behalf of the dog. Have patience and she will grow out of it.

I believe she is just over excited. I have had this same experience in most puppies. My dogs have always outgrown it.
It will get better, Toni
