True story. A few months ago I was hospitalized for a kidney infection. I had no health insurance at the time, my work does not cover me. I was told by the hospital that I could apply for medical aid to help pay the bill. I recieved a phone call just yesterday informing me that I was declined any aid. What they told me was appalling, the reason I could not get any aid was because I'm not a drug addict or an alcoholic, unmarried mother with two or more kids, a refugee, and yes an illegal alien!! I have been working since I was 15 and paying taxes ever since, I never applied for any kind of government aid in my life, this one time that I would have really needed it, the government slapped me in the face. Do you think it is better I renounce my citizenship? The medical claims office informed me illegals get all kinds of aid, no questions asked. Do you think this is fair? I have been contact my local and state government to complain, I recomend it to all legal tax payers out there.

Don't believe me, go call your local medical assistance office, they will tell you the same thing.

For all of you who are mad that I am telling the truth, go report me the question will be posted again. You might also think that I am a racist as well, funny because I thought the government was being racist against me because I do not fall into any of those categories.

I'm from PA and was also told that it is one of the worst states in doing this.

I would also add I am not blaming these categories, but just staing the fact that for all you tax payers out there who dont go and get knocked up a million times, who dont smoke crack or drink thier livers away, who are not refugees and are legals, it suck for you that the government works like this, I am p!ssed at the government for acting so dumb. How about free medical aid to all college and college grad students!

Thats too bad, Im sorry to hear that and hope youre feeling better. No, it is not fair and realize that illegals are a big drain on government funded programs, that is why I cannot stress enough that we need to have a better screening system implemented so that at the time of application for these benefits the people using fake ss#s will be denied upon application thus reducing the amount of illegals defrauding the system. I also feel however, that all employers MUST be required to offer health insurance to its employees always. Good luck.

I agree with what you said about the gov't being racist against you. If you could in no way afford medical care, then they should have given it to you. I have been in your situation...sorta. I applied for assitance for medicaid and food stamps and we were barely making it. I went to the offices and was told we "didn't qualify", and it wasn't like we had vehicle payments. Just regular bills we could barely pay and no medical insurance. Meanwhile in the parking lot of the same office, there were brand new vehicles driven by those who were asking for help. It seemed unfair to me and now, unfair to you. The gov't needs to look into the situation a bit more, on who is getting what. I think everyone deserves great medical care, but not turn away those who really need it, or help with bills.

I was beaten by illegal aliens and their supporters during the Maywood CA protest in August of this year.

Because of my legal status (citizen) and my insurance status (none) I have been unable to get any treatment for ongoing nerve damage in my back and legs from the incident.

An attorney told me that had I been an illegal alien, not only would I have received a free ride to the hospital (I had to decline the ambulance) but I would likely be on the road to recovery, having been treated at the expense of the American taxpayer, and attorneys would be beating down my door for the opportunity to sue the City of Maywood on my behalf.

Instead, I'm permanently injured with no recourse, and no attorney or organization who wants to take a case against the City of Maywood, whose police force stood by and watched as I was beaten and did NOTHING.

Yep, our government cares about US doesn't it?

No, it is not fair. My husband finally got a job with an employer who offers insurance, but before that, we were working for an employer who did not offer insurance. We could not afford private insurance. We didn't make much money and even though we have a child with asthma, we were not eligible for government aid. Low cost insurance needs to be made available to all people who need it. It is not the fault of the alcoholics, addicts or unmarried mothers, it is our government! Americans need to demand action by our government. I bet a Senator or Congressman's family never goes without insurance! I am also from PA.!

No it is not fair at all. I feel bad for you. The health insurance situation in this country is dire and needs to be changed. Though I am sure it never will be. My son is in the same boat as you and has huge medical bills. Unfortunately there are many in this predicament. I cannot think of many other things that are more unfair than this ridiculous cost of medical treatment for people who are not fortunate enough to have medical insurance. You, unfortunately have become a victim of the worst health system in the western world.

Oh I believe you alright.
Time to take this up with some state officials! Send them your bill, with a letter that explains what you have just told us here. Infact, send the same to the White House! Send it to ALL your state representatives!
There may be some other groups that would like to know about this, so be sure to keep passing it on.

You never did mention what state you were in, not that it matters really, merely curious.

It is very unfair. As a hard working American you are entitled to government help. It is those who feed off the system that should get turned down, like illegals and he guy who just "can't" get a job anywhere, anytime.
You may be able to get in contact with a non-profit organization like a Church, a Synagogue, or whatever religion you are for help.

I totally believe you. Although I now have a job that offers medical benefits; I've been in your shoes before. It is totally ridiculous! Until Pro-Americans begin to stick together & protest the way Pro-Illegals do, things won't change. Everyone tries to be so damn politically correct & don't seem to want to stand up for what is right. This has nothing @ all to do with racism. I'm so tired of the race card being played. Instead of these political parties speaking for America, "we ordinary people" must stand up & demand to be heard. Our troops must be brought back in order to support the boarders of our "own" home instead of someone elses. God Bless America & IT'S PEOPLE!!!!!

This is sad and I am sorry for your luck. In our great country which I love and have defended as a member of the military, i have noticed the importance of being good to people who do not belong here but being good to our own doesn't matter. I write my representitives constantly for this type of crap and I am glad that you too wrote them. That and voting is all we can do.

OK Miss bitter. I have also worked all my life and paid taxes all my life, which is why I pay for a good insurance out of my own pocket. That way I don't have to go to Yahoo answers and complain for something I don't take care of.
