I have already put that pink stuff on.. Caladryl, but its still itching like freaking crazy!!!!! It feels worse! There are bumps on my back.. but just a red rash on my breast. I've never felt this kind of pain before!!! I just started going tanning about a week ago and naturally my skin has itched until I put lotion on.. Well today was different. I went tanning and I started to itch as I was tanning. I am using a tanning lotion that has hemp in it and it has a tingling sensation when it is applied. I've used it for the past week and haven't had a problem. What is going on with me and what can I do!!!! I live in a little town and theres no walmarts or anything like that i can go to to pick anything up. WHAT DO I DO! Oh the only thing different about today than my other tanning days.. is i am on my period. Any ideas or remedies?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

ah sounds like a contact dermatits rash. stop using that lotion you may be allergic to it and how well do they clean that tanning bed hummmm you may have some funky stuff growing on you. to be on the safe side go and let a doctor look at it. If it itches as you said the best thing to put on it is hydrocortisone cream you can buy that over the counter you can get that anywhere.

I had something similar and was told by others to put a steriodal type anti-itch lotion on it (like what's used for excema). That just made them splotchy and still really itchy - and the pain with the itch was awful so I knew it wasn't a regular "rash'.

I went to my doctor and she asked me if I had chicken pox as a kid - which I did. She then told me I had "shingles" - which is the virus that causes chicken pox - but it stays latent in your body until you have a time in your adult life when you or your immune system is really stressed or overtaxed for some reason.

It is more common in people over 40 - BUT it is not unheardof for people in their 20's and 30's that have this occur also.

Go to your doctor! IF it is "shingles" you want to catch it fast so that you don't have to go through it for another 3-4 weeks. One of the medications they can give for it works great if you catch it in the first 48-72 hours - or something like that. Check with your doctor to be sure.

Don't put anymore lotion on the rash area... My doctor told me that the lotion I put on made the rash look atypical for "shingles." Fortunately she'd seen enough patients in all her years to know what "atypical shingles" looks like and was able to diagnose and treat it properly. The medication started worked by the next day (18 hrs. after I started it).

Best be safe than go through another 3-4 weeks - if it is shingles - the pain gets worse for awhile after the rash starts to go away (unless you're on the medication, that is). I don't mean to scare you - it will be fine - but who wants to live with that longer than you have to? ;-)

Take care!

P.S. I thought I had contact dermatitis / an allergic reaction but my doctor believed that if I was having an allergic reaction or dermatitis issue it would have shown up all around my torso where I had applied my new "sunscreen" in my case... instead of just the one breast and one underarm.

Well, first things first, don't apply anymore of that tanning lotion. I've had allergic reactions before after several days of using a product, it's not unusual.

Avoid scratching because it can cause more irritation, infection, and scarring and get to a store as soon as possible.

Go to a doctor, its probably because you had an allergic reaction to something. It happens to me also. Don't worry, be brave!

Try something cold like an ice pack for now to ease the pain. :]

Good luck and get better!!
