have small glass of olive oil like 10 minutes before, it covers and protects your digestive system and keeps it from assimilating all the alcohol thus you don´t get as drunk

Have a good meal first - something like pasta that will absorb a lot, try to choose a drink that you can stomach a lot of and don't mix your drinks. Try to slip a few glasses of water in along the way (really helps for the next day too). Dance a lot.

Yes, start eating now and out-weigh your opponents by at least 60 lbs. and you will have a superior chance of winning (as well as higher chance of health problems).
Forget all the old wives tales about coating your stomach with greasy food or caster oil - they will not change your body's metabolism or rate of alcohol absorption.

Depeneding on what you drink, I would chase the alcohol with something like water to dilute to potency for awhile. You still will get drunk just not as quick.

Eat a huge piece of cheese before you go out, and don't drink too fast. My mom told me to eat cheese once, and I did not even get tipsy while many of my friends were wasted. Try It!

Eat a lot of bread before hand so it absorbs the alcohol.
